Anyone has a good review or tips for studying for the pmhnp exam? I will be taking the ancc exam this year, and I dont want to use a whole lot of different reviews.

Thanks!

I took the PMHNP exam today and passed it. Seemed like it was the longest 4 hrs of my life. What a relief to finally to put this behind me. First let me share my thoughts about the exam.

In my opinion this test is a test of critical thinking skills. So some of these study aids, the more expensive ones at least, were unnecessary. There were quite a number of questions that were not covered in any of the sources that I used but one could use critical thinking to figure out the answers. Just by analyzing the question and looking at the answers presented.

After reading a bunch of I failed postings, I freaked myself out and ended up buying a bunch of different study aids. Thankfully I can claim them on my taxes

So for the resources I used

Fitzgerald 2015 CDs and Work Book

Lantern Review

ANCC Review Book

Board Vitals

ANCC Test IQ questions

Youtube videos- Stomp on Step 1, Memorable Psychopharmocology, Dirty USMLE, Crash Medical Review by Paul Bolin MD

APA Treatment Guidelines for all psych disorders - I used the quick facts.

HHS. GOV- Get all the details about HIPAA - I thought I knew all the rules but I got a lot more clarification here.

So my thoughts on all the resources, If I had to do it again, I would skip Fitzgerald and Lantern.

Most helpful to me was Boardvitals and the Youtube videos. Like I said, IMO, the test really is about critical thinking and Board Vitals really helped hone my critical thinking skills. I did over 1600 questions on Board Vitals then I did the ANCC Test IQ questions.

Good luck to all!
