I thought I'd start one of those fun threads. Does anyone else have a Mother/Father/Family member xyz that just brags and brags about the fact you are a nurse? Share your story!

I'm just finishing up my last couple of prerequisites for nursing school, and my mom tells everyone that I'm going to be a nurse..... it's adorable but drives me nuts! I wish she wouldn't say anything since I'm not even in nursing school yet! I almost feel like it's bad luck! LOL!

My mom and dad just say "we told her not too, but she wouldn't listen"
My granddaddy on the other hand, tells all his nurses at the hospital I am "his personal RN, and they better not mess up, because I'm watching". *rolls eyes*

Ouch!!!
I am so sorry to hear that. I can imagine how badly that must sting.
"I" applaud you! (I know it's nowhere near the same...but I hope it's a teensy bit comforting...)

My mom is telling everybody that I am a nursing student and how proud she is of me , and that I just had my first child 6/17/08 which makes her a grandma. So she is on cloud 9 right now!!!!

My Mom and Dad and my mother-in-law all bragged about me becoming an RN. My family never tought I would go to college (30 years old and two children when I started). I was the first person in my family to go to college and recieve a degree, so I guess I can put up with my family bragging.

thank you very much
Its not that I want to be praised all the time by them or anything, it would just be nice to have some kind of recognition of what I have done and what I am trying to do.

My family brags all the time. They think it's great that I am finishing up college with four kids, me, someone who barely made it through H.S. It does get a little annoying when my mom says, "how's my "A" student?" In front of nursing school friends, but I know she's just proud.

My mom and brother are also nurses so it isn't that big of a deal in my family. But my husband says that being able to say your wife is a nurse is the coolest he can think of. My daughter also likes to tell everyone that her mom works in ICU and that she isn't going to be a nurse because she wants to be an artist so that she can stay home with her kids (she's 5). Love it!
