    Best Scrub Skirts?

Sorry, I think I posted this in the wrong place, but cannot figure out how to change it. 😳

    Best Scrub Skirts?

I am starting a new job and need to purchase scrubs. I like wearing skirts, but I am having trouble finding any that aren't straight/pencil types. Those are very hard to move in, so I am trying to find ones that are flared. Does anyone have any experience with scrub skirts and know of any that allow for ease of mobility?

    Question re: nursing diagnosis

Am I supposed to copy my nursing outcomes and interventions directly from the NANDA book, or use my own words?

    Advice on Interviews

I have a job interview scheduled for this Thursday. I am in my first semester of nursing school, so this is more of a CNA/student nurse job than anything else, but I really want to get it. What sort of questions will they ask me? How should I prepare? What should I know beforehand? I know I should dress professionally, but should I leave my long hair down, or put it in a ponytail, braid, or clip? Should I wear high heels? Are boots okay? I don't own a suit, so can I wear an nice sweater? Any advice is much appreciated!

How hard is stats compared to A&P?

I took A&P and stats the same semester and found the latter to be immeasurably more difficult. I got A's in both classes, but stats required me to have two tutors for five hours each week, plus loads of time on my own, plus going to my teacher's office hours. Happens to be, it was an honors course, and 75% of my class dropped out, and of the few who stayed, only me and one other person got A's, so it wasn't just me who struggled. But that's just my experience. Others may find it to be different.

    CCBC Nursing Fall 2017 Application

Hey SQuinlin1, I applied to the CCBC nursing program for Spring 2017. Basically, you can go to the registration and enrollment office and request that your transcript be sent to the school of nursing. They'll know exactly what you are talking about and are very helpful. Best of luck!

What Do You Love About Nursing?

Thank you to everyone for all your lovely answers! It means more to me than I can say. I love reading everybody's perspectives, and I'm feeling a lot more optimistic. I enjoy hearing about everyone's different occupations and specialties, but I am particularly interested in research. If anyone has any experience in that area and would like to share, I'd love to hear it! Thank you again for your love and support!

What Do You Love About Nursing?

I am going to be starting the nursing program in January. I recently had an orientation at my school, which seemed (to me) to be devoted exclusively to informing us how difficult the program would be, and how we would have no life, and how we would suffer tremendously, etc., etc. I came home feeling pretty awful. Then I joined this wonderful site to see if anyone had any tips to offer to new students, and to look around to hear what other nurses had to say. Wow! It seems like everyone hates their jobs/bosses/co-workers/patients. No one gets paid, everyone is exhausted, drained, burnt out, and miserable. Suddenly, nursing seems like the worst job on the planet. I literally started crying. It seems like I am doomed to be miserable for two years in school, and subsequently for the rest of my life in my job. SO...can anyone tell me something they actually like about nursing?

Please Help: Weight Gain in Nursing School

Thank you so much, verene! You've made me feel a whole lot better! :)
  10. After reading some of the threads here (which I probably should have done before I decided to become a nurse), I am seeing a lot of people saying that they experienced weight gain in nursing school. As someone who has dealt with a whole host of eating disorders and body image issues, I find this absolutely terrifying. I am really quite on the verge of panicking. Right now, I eat well and work out for half an hour every day. Is it feasible for me to continue this pattern while in nursing school? Does everyone gain weight? Why is this? Is there anything I can do to avoid it? Any help would be much appreciated!

    WANTED: New Student Advice

Thank you so much, Esme12! I am rather worried about the amount of material I will be responsible for knowing. How should I prioritize? Also, you mentioned that you have forums and people who can help. That sounds awesome! What kind of help do you provide?

    WANTED: New Student Advice

Hi everyone! I'm brand new to allnurses and I hope I'm doing this right. I am going to be starting nursing school at the end of January, and I'm more than a bit nervous. Everyone keeps telling me how impossible nursing school is going to be. It seems like everybody quite loathes it. I'm just looking for some general advice from current nursing students about how to make the most of my experience, how to do well, things you wish you would have known when you started...that kind of stuff. Thanks a bunch!

practice teas vs the real teas

Hey there, lisamarkham92! I wouldn't worry so much about it. I took two TEAS practice tests within the month before my test and got in the 70ish range on both of them. When I actually took the exam, though, I scored a 91%, which is in the 99th percentile. I thought the actual exam was easier than the practice test. My advice: Don't freak out. Look over your exam, see in which areas you were weakest, and focus on improving them. You have plenty of time. If you haven't done so already, make sure you get the ATI workbook and practice out of that. I found it really helpful. Find a tutor to help you out if you need one. Make sure you are proficient in doing simple math quickly without a calculator. And when you are taking the exam, don't panic. It will waste your time and fluster you and probably affect your grade. Take a deep breath and just do it! Best of luck! :)
