About LunarpaddlerBS

I am a career-changing LPN with a BS degree in marketing. Related employment: 6+ years as a ULP at a residential rehabilitation facility. I worked with brain injured adults, administering medications, monitoring glucose levels, and responding to various emergencies. I also attended medical appointments, reporting to the facility's RN. 1. My husband wakes me up!

Yeah, they probably think that most night workers are paid to sleep, waking up only for emergencies. You must have gotten at least 8 hours of sleep...you had 12 hours to do so.
  2. My husband wakes me up!

I don't know if there are any preschoolers around during the day, and I don't know what kind of work he does. However, I am wondering if it's possible to request that he go out somewhere for a few hours during the day. For example, could he take h...
  3. My NCLEX Experience: Preparations, Study Tips, and Acing the Exam

Quick Results were actually available Sunday night...Passed...(yay!) Thinking maybe I should change my user name. Perhaps UnofficialLPN54 I am optimistic for you Kg17...any news?
  4. Hi Warchild, I realize that you didn't ask for advice. Is it still possible to salvage this semester? If so, would you be able to use your holiday breaks to catch up? Perhaps these are things you could think about before you give up.
  5. Hi Augustris. You probably know more than you realize. You could work on improving your comprehension during the upcoming holiday breaks. (Thanksgiving is not too soon to start.) I have two ideas on how you could approach this: If you have decent c...
  6. In my world, creating flowcharts (and diagrams, tables, etc.) and rewriting notes/powerpoints are two extremely effective methods of learning the material. Especially creating flowcharts, diagrams, and tables...you are not only processing the info ...
  7. My NCLEX Experience: Preparations, Study Tips, and Acing the Exam

11/16/17, 12:30pm EST. I also took the NCLEX PN, got a bunch of SATA, no math, and it shut off at 90. Waiting for my results too. No kidding! The good news (hopefully) is that the SATA questions are a lot more difficult to answer correctly. The odds...
  8. Does it matter where I get my RN?

Unless I'm misunderstanding, it sounds to me like OP is already in the LPN program. I think OP is asking if it's a smart idea to stay at his diploma school to obtain his RN license, OR if that's going to hurt him down the road should he choose to p...
  9. Not a CNA, LPN, CMA, etc.

This is so true. As a new LPN student, I had experience giving medications as a ULP in a group home type setting. Yet, I had to relearn to administer meds from a nursing perspective...focusing on patient assessment and medication effects (therapeu...
  10. Dressy, Comfortable Work Shoes

Just an added note (re: my previous post): 1) I misspelled the brand name. It's Alegria with one L. 2) I have been wearing this single pair of white Alegria Palomas to every clinical and lab day. The outer shoes have held up well. Last week, my ...
  11. Dating while in nursing school?

I don't think anyone is suggesting that the "I'm sorry/thank you" bit is OWED to the pursuer. Perhaps the "sorry/thank you" is intended to facilitate the message (i.e. diffuse the intensity of the situation). Isn't a polite but CLEAR rejection bette...
  12. For The Love Of All That Is Holy . . . .

...or perhaps something as basic as grammar and spelling. :) Geography is another subject that seems to be missing from education, but I digress. I do agree with the poster who mentioned the necessity of developing a unique signature. However, I w...
  13. Dressy, Comfortable Work Shoes

I bought a pair of white Allegria Palomas for nursing school. The fit and support are amazing. I don't even add my orthotics, but I could if I wanted to. They are styled like maryjanes, and they are available in many different colors. The soles ar...
  14. Is 51 yrs old too old to start LVN school?

I am in an LPN program, and I'm 53. There are 4 other classmates who are in their mid 40s to mid 50s. Chances are that you won't be alone. Most of the older students in my class are pursuing the LPN for economic reasons (layoffs, etc.). OP, if nurs...
  15. Is 51 yrs old too old to start LVN school?

Ah, there it is. "That age." Nursing school WILL be stressful. Period. Plan for it, no matter who you are. There are so many other factors to consider, both pro and con. (eg. most 51 year old women don't have issues with child care. I would call ...
