This is very  much true. I am 54 but athletic and active. I'm frequently mistaken for someone in their late 30's to early 40's. I've seen people the same age who look and have the physicality of someone 20 years older. However, the reality is that life is catching up to me as it is wont to do. To the OP I don't want to tinkle on your Wheaties but it would serve you well to think long and hard about this. Nursing is a tough gig physically, mentally and emotionally and you're coming into it late in the game. It may be hard to find a job much less do it but if you think you're up for it and have the support you're going to need then have a go.

Nobody here is condemning you and you are targeting THE WRONG PEOPLE with your obvious rage. What did you expect?  You came here and started verbally spitting at us. If this is how you are treating people who did nothing to you or your husband I wonder what your demeanor is with the people you actually interacted with.
You might benefit from talking about this to someone who can better help you make peace with your experience. I'm not sure strangers on the internet are the best choice.

No, it really isn't. And please direct your anger elsewhere, like at the people you really have an issue with. Do you walk up to random people on the street and start yelling at them and calling them names because you're cheesed off at someone else? Also, calling a nurse's missed attempt at an IV a "screwup" is over the top. Pot meet kettle.

I’m guessing you have to be a paid member. Given my posting history you’d think I’d at least be verified and I am, in fact, a nurse. 😂

Wuzzie got a reaction from dream'n in Sitting down - New nurse looking for advice
So what you’re saying is you fob off your students on already overworked nurses who aren’t getting paid to do your job while your job pays you to sit and do your own homework? Am I hearing you right? Do you have any idea what that sounds like to those of us who have students assigned to us? Do you honestly think that’s the right way to instruct? I am utterly flabbergasted that you would actually admit this...to thousands of nurses. No wonder so many new grads come to the floor completely incapable of functioning at even the most basic level.

Wuzzie got a reaction from Ladyddm in LPN vs. RN Schooling - First time student
If you decide to pursue this please be aware that ageism is alive and thriving in nursing. You may very well have a great deal of difficulty finding a job. Also, I’m not that far behind you age wise. I personally wouldn’t do either. Find a hobby. Be a docent. Cuddle babies in the local NICU. Join a club. Learn how to do something new. Trust me, nursing isn’t something to cure boredom with. Becoming a nurse for that reason  would be like driving a thumbtack in with a sledgehammer. Total overkill and the thumbtack is going to be damaged. Don’t be the thumbtack.
