This is very different than what happened in the RV case and I believe there is more to this story as some of the details don’t add up.  A simple stent placement in a normal kidney even if it’s the wrong kidney should not result in a patient needing dialysis for “life”. Regardless, the physician was not the only person tasked with assuring that the correct surgical site was chosen. The “time out” procedure involves the majority of the OR team. There is a system component to this as well as individual. Hopefully the licenses of all involved have been impacted and the surgeon, as the team leader, should have his pulled. The rest seems more suited for a civil action.  Now, if the surgeon refused to scrub, didn’t wear a mask or sterile gloves, wiped the instruments on his jeans before using them, sneezed into the incision, got the mesh tubing from Quality Farm and Fleet and closed the patient with stuff from his mom’s sewing kit then perhaps criminal charges would be appropriate.

Nobody here is condemning you and you are targeting THE WRONG PEOPLE with your obvious rage. What did you expect?  You came here and started verbally spitting at us. If this is how you are treating people who did nothing to you or your husband I wonder what your demeanor is with the people you actually interacted with.
You might benefit from talking about this to someone who can better help you make peace with your experience. I'm not sure strangers on the internet are the best choice.

Can you contact the physician who wrote the prescription and have him send a letter?

Always, always, always do your 5 rights. I cannot emphasize this enough. If you aren't familiar with a med look it up (both the generic and the brand name) BEFORE you give it. Even after you've been a nurse for decades. Treat every patient as you would want your mom treated (or your dad if you don't like your mom.) If you're feeling rushed and overwhelmed STOP, take a deep breath and review your next step to make sure you aren't missing something.

If the hospitals could bill for nursing hours separately instead of including us in the furniture I'm guessing we would have ratios of about 1:3.

That argument hasn’t really been proven true. Another poster did a search and found only 3 cases, including RV, since the late 90’s. None have resulted in jail time.

There is no authorization for Christians to do those things in scripture. The context there is Christ's establishing a church in the first century. There was a drastic departure in values and belief among the first Christians that included the value of women and children and care for the sick and poor.  In the first 3 centuries, it was open season on Christians, so they were more focused on that than killing anyone else. Whatever crimes you can point to subsequent to that period, they were committed on the sociopolitical basis of the time. Christianity figured into that basis, but on a cultural power basis not an authentic religious one.
That is demonstrably not a Catholic teaching. Catholicism does teach that there is no salvation outside of Jesus (God). That means if a pagan were "saved", and Catholics believe that is possible, he is saved through Jesus Christ, whether he'd know it or not.
Catholics identify this as 'presumption of the mercy of God'. It is something that Catholics are specifically warned against because these sins are not simply forgiven on the basis of a 'get out of jail free' mentality. As it would risk salvation, any priest would know that.
Humans do appalling things to other people all of the time. And as far as any legislative efforts go, you'd be hard pressed to find any consensus among  all Christians as to what is good or not. You'd also find agreement among Muslims, Christians and atheists in plenty of legislation that you would find objectionable. They might be outliers in their respective groups, or maybe not.
I think your  for information on Christians has been limited to biased and agenda driven sources that don't have service to the truth at heart. Sorry for saying so, but you've made statements that have the vibe of a right wing Christian evangelical fundamentalist. You're just on the opposite side.

No, it really isn't. And please direct your anger elsewhere, like at the people you really have an issue with. Do you walk up to random people on the street and start yelling at them and calling them names because you're cheesed off at someone else? Also, calling a nurse's missed attempt at an IV a "screwup" is over the top. Pot meet kettle.

If he wasn't a patient and you weren't his nurse, I'm guessing he would already have been arraigned for assault and battery.  So it absolutely *IS* about him being a patient.
For far too long, we've excused assault and battery by patients (and their families) because "they were upset" or "he's not himself."  It's not right.

This slope has been sloping for many, many decades. The only difference was a fateful slow news cycle where one nurse was highlighted in the news.
My mother was on a board of nursing for a large state many decades ago and was aware and involved in several cases where nurses were criminally charged for one mistake or another.

Ummmmm. I don’t recall that being part of any nursing code anywhere, that’s for mummies and daddies. I find it’s much better to encourage people to achieve what they reasonably can,  not whatever cockamamie pipe-dream they have deluded themselves into believing. We had someone here once who was legally blind and wanted to be a nurse. This is not reasonable at all but sure enough someone piped up about forcing schools, clinical sites and hospitals to make accommodations for them because it was their dreeeaaammm.  We do not do people favors by encouraging them to continue toward an unattainable goal.
To the OP, you may have to figure out a way to deal with your situation until such time that you’ve achieved enough experience to transfer into a CM job. Your facility may have an ADA office that can help you.  But now that you have a year’s experience it may be easier for you to find a job with less (but not zero) physical stress such as pediatric home care or phone triage.
