    Moving to NYC?

I am expected to graduate January 2020 with a BSN and soon thereafter will be taking the NCLEX in California. I am very interested in applying for jobs in New York as well as jobs in California so I was advised to take my NCLEX in California since that's where I am currently and if I am offered a job in NY, THEN look into transferring my license to NY, but my career advisor really had no idea so I wanted to come on here and ask if anyone had actually received a license in California and then got a job in NY or if anyone has insights on this matter, I would appreciate any help and all the help. Also, I am looking for New Grad Programs, and my school is able to help me find those near my school but had no idea how to help for out of state hospitals and wanted to know if any of you lovely RN's or student nurses in NY know of any that will be happening near end of this year/early next year, I will be so grateful.

So tentatively August 7th is when we will be receiving a paper mail regardless if you got in or not and only for those who are accepted get an email bc you have to pay a deposit and etc through the email is what I heard from my friend who got in last cohort.

Had my interview today, so this cohort, they invited roughly 140 to interview, separated by 4 interview groups, and will be accepting roughly 64. So I feel like the acceptance rate got a little bit more competitive. I feel like more people were invited to the interview which is great but acceptance rate from everyone they interview is about the same, if not harder I feel like.

The essay was timed and we had 45 minutes and they provide the paper that needs to be used so you can just come with a pen. And as far as interview questions go, they emphasize that we don't share exact questions asked to be fair for everyone but I will say that there were few traditional typical interview questions and more of critical thinking and scenario-based questions. Aka why I don't think you can really prepare for it. It seemed like they honestly just wanted to see your personality in your answers and not necessarily to check if you were saying the "correct" thing. I can't speak for everyone but I didn't get questions like "why concordia?". Definitely know why you want to pursue Nursing and have a strong idea about what it means to be a nurse to you, then almost all questions should come with ease! I did look at old threads of Concordia ABSN 2014-2016 to see few examples of interview questions people had shared after everyone had interviewed, so I would look at those too if you are really nervous. and it was one of the best interviews I had, ALL because it really didn't feel like I was being judged and being compared to, which was surprising because it IS a group interview and they are technically judging and picking who they want, but the whole process felt like I was there to meet faculty and make friends :) its great to meet other people just as passionate and excited to begin their nursing journey

it wasn't thoroughly explained in detail but from my understanding, the answer to that question is ... no. Summer 2017 cohort A (which is due to graduate in August 2018) will be approx 40 students and Summer 2017 cohort B (which is due to graduate in December 2018) will start their online class in May alongside with cohort A, but will wait to start campus-life classes until August and will be considered like the Fall cohort. (yes, it's totally confusing...) so if anything Fall cohort will have a bigger graduating class.. but they said it won't be smaller cohorts.. Only donwside is that we can't choose which you prefer over the other. But upside is that they are selecting more students! If the future interviewee can ask and elaborate on here after regarding this matter will be greatly appreciated!!

Had my interview today and it was an amazing process! You will be there for the entire duration that your ticket states, they do provide snacks and water so don't worry! but my interview process was from 12-4:30, but it honestly didn't feel like I was there for that long because it's a group interview and it was a great time to meet your fellow hopeful nursing students and the faculty. A quick overview: check in (don't be late, parking wasn't readily available today) essay (they do have white-out provided but if you have your own that works like a tape, I would totally bring one, because I wasted some time waiting for the white-out to dry) group interview (there are 4 rounds and you are most likely going to be interviewed by two faculty members in each round) in answering interview questions: BE YOURSELF! I honestly don't think you can prepare for it, and it should come out naturally! Almost none of the questions were questions I expected. also! Make sure your parking ticket is validated! I used the little machine inside the campus to validate my ticket but when I went to leave the structure, my ticket wasn't validated at all and I had to pay $16... dress code:nothing was required but 99% people came in business attire. So I definitely would not come in jeans and a t-shirt. Especially when the faculty came in their business attire. And I was so nervous the day before the interview that I couldn't even sleep, but now having had the interview... it was one of my favorite interviews I have ever done ... ever. Good of luck to everyone!!!! also... there's a new summer cohort that will be starting later in August instead of June.. we were told that you can't choose which cohort you preferred but because of this, they are interviewing more people than they had in the past. We were a group of 40 today and there are two more interview groups... so approx 120 people are being interviewed and they are looking into selecting 50-60 (when normally they only pick 40) so that was an interesting curveball over anything today. Lastly, tentatively, results will be announced march 31st!!!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply!!!! This program is my number one, most ideal case, but I know just how competitive it is, so I am also thinking of doing accelerated bsn and then apply again for their masters program but not giving up yet!!! Thank you again :)

Hi! I have two questions, if you'll be so kind to answer them :) 1) if my prereqs were only one semester long, as in my micro, physio etc were lecture and lab but only one semester, do I need to take two classes of each of those prereqs?? 2) is my cumulative gpa, gpa from my undergrad university + prereqs from all my community college as well?? Or strictly just from my undergrad university gpa??
