    Less Saturated areas of CA?

Hi All, I am hoping to move to San Diego in the next year or so, but I know the job market is pretty terrible for new grads. I was wondering if there are any less saturated areas 2 or 3 hours from San Diego? Is Palm Springs just as impossible? Are th...

    Virginia Mason Residencies 2019

Hi all. Has anyone gone through the hiring process at Virginia Mason for New Grads? I got a phone interview, but I don't know whether they phone screen everyone or only people they are interested in. Any insight would be appreciated.

Ambulatory Surgery: where does my career go from here?

Thank you, Rose_Queen. I appreciate the feedback.
  4. Hi All I'm making a somewhat unexpected switch from night shift in the hospital to circulating nurse in an ambulatory surgical center, and will eventually train to PACU as well. It's 9-5 M-F, comes with a 30% raise, and no weekends or holidays, which...
  5. I don't see a thread for the summer cohort, so here it is! Does anyone know what time the application opened? I am on the east coast and woke up at 3 am to try to apply for 12 am pacific time, but it wasn't open. Anyways, good luck to all who applied...
  6. I knew the ins and outs of how to be successful in my BSN program and how to land an RN job before I even started nursing school. I already knew what organizations I needed to join, the externship I wanted to apply for during my junior year, what sen...

Has she been febrile? What did the vomit look like? Has she had a cough? Any findings on her abdominal exam? Where else is she having pain? Can we make the BMP a CMP? Let's do a UA and a Utox too. Would someone be able to educate me on why an LDH wo...

    Scared new nurse jitters

Of course you're nervous before starting this new job! Totally normal! Just show up with a smile on your face, ready to take responsibility for your learning and you will do great. I really recommend finding other new grads to talk about your experie...

I think they set me up with an interview during the screening, but I don't think that's the case for everyone who gets offered an interview

I think I'm going to be let go from Orientation :((

MD Communication/Communication has been super tough for me during orientation as well. I have been working really hard to get over the idea that I shouldn't speak up or reach out to MDs because I'm new. That line of thinking is just not acceptable--i...

Integrity - Should I say something

When I was in school, I witnessed a classmate do something that would have warranted immediate dismissal from the program if I had reported it. Even though I personally did not like this individual, soon thereafter her behavior caught up to her enoug...
  13. Hi all I am a new grad RN with an Aug. start date. I am in a position where if I do not attend grad school for fall of 2020, I might not be able to for a long time. Deciding to forgo getting RN experience was not a choice I've made lightly. Anyways. ...

Have any Nurse Residents had to ask for letters of rec?

I appreciate your advice, aspiringcnm3. I needed the reminder to slow down. I have a whole soapbox speech about how I feel like every day I spend as an RN is like getting paid to learn, and here I am not practicing what I preach by rushing to get ou...

Any nurses that love nursing and love their job??

    1. NP education is severely lacking compared to PA education, and there is a resulting theory-practice gap that should scare you if it doesn't already. 2. PA's don't specialize in school and have the freedom to move between specialties without additi...

Kicked out of BSN program in final semester

What kind of school--assuming there was no breach of your school's code of conduct--would not let you graduate because of one failed course?! Was it your capstone that you failed? Would it be an option to take an incomplete until you could finish wha...

    Seattle Children's Nurse Residency 2019

I think we just won't hear back. Or maybe we'll hear back in a few months once they've finished the entire process. That's been my experience.

    Seattle Children's Nurse Residency 2019

I have not heard and I’m not surprised. A LOT of people at the open house were practicum students or Seattle Children’s Employees. I have a feeling they only take a small handful of people outside that applicant pool.

    MUSC Grad Programs 2019

Hi All, Anyone out there applying? I am applying to the FNP program. I'm still in school for my BSN, but they do consider applicants with no experience so I'm keeping my expectations low and giving it a shot. According to info shared in last year's ...

    Seattle Children's Nurse Residency 2019

I really wanted to apply to ACFP too, but I decided to just go for the critical care track since my practicum and work experience is in a peds ED. I applied to ED, CICU and PICU. From the brief interaction I got at the open house, it seemed like Sea...
