  1. I have been in the CA diversion program for 3 months. Got a positive PEth test and now they say I need inpatient for 30 days. I’m not in the program for alcohol or narcotics. Problem is I have a 7 year old and nobody to care for him. Anyone else had this issue? If so how did you get through it?

    Hiring Managers please answer

Thank you for your response. I truly appreciate it. I have done all that you've mentioned. I have my ACLs, PALS, BLS, TNCC and am going to sit for the CEN next month. I plan on taking every critical care cert exam I can. I suppose I'll just have to walk in and request a chat with the dept managers .i realize this may be pushy and unconventional but after all I'm a nurse. Aren't we all pushy and unconventional at times in order to get things done?!

    Hiring Managers please answer

I have been a nurse for 8 years and have a diverse background. I have always risen through the ranks quickly at all of my jobs to be the go to resource, be it a hard stick, or "how do you do this", etc. The physicians seek me out to ask questions regarding their patient's care and ask that I be assigned to their patients. Having said that I have been working in a 24 hour urgent care that is really nothing short of a mini ED. I would like to return to acute care but without one year recent acute care experience I can't get an interview. WHY??????????? There is no learning curve for me except to find out where supplies are located. I'm also a super user for meditech, Epic, and touchworks. I know we are all working short, and I see tons of openings. Can someone please answer this question for me. I just don't get it.

Career advice for low self esteem

I really don't know where to begin.... I have been a RN going on 7 years now. I have had almost as many jobs. I have left almost all of them without notice. I have been in an abusive relationship and am finally free. I have now been at the same job going on three years. I have learned so many things being in a relationship like that. Most importantly, that the only way you can be victimized is by allowing yourself to be the victim. That is so hard to understand when you are in the thick of the battle. Once the realization comes, it's a windfall of strength and new perspective that you give yourself. I now find myself looking to get a permanent job back in the acute care setting. I'm currently working nights in one if the busiest urgent care centers in Southern California. I have done very well and risen through the ranks to become lead charge. We are located minutes from a very busy ER and so logically we get very high acuity patients that think the wait will be quicker coming to us. (The public needs to be educated on urgent vs. emergent because it is costing them precious time when a stroke or STEMI is apparent). I digress, how can I get back into acute care setting with a history like mine? I have several letters of recommendation and my license us clean, I am very skilled in assessment, IV, med admin, etc in the critical care and peds critical care areas. Any advice is appreciated!!!! Thank you for taking the time to read this!!!!
