  1. Hi. I applied for Temple's New to Practice Program a few weeks ago and just received word that my initial application was accepted. In the FAQ's, it says that applicants will have to take competency exams after they are selected. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this program and if these competencies are just basically things we learned in nursing school. Also, if anyone has completed this program, how is it? Temple is one of my dream hospitals to work for so I'm very excited and curious about this program. Thanks so much!

I didn't hear back so since Brenda did, I'm thinking that means I didn't make the cut. Best of luck to those of you who did hear back with your competencies.

Yes, I'm worried about those compentancies too. I've been out of school since September and just recently found a home care position so I'm worried that I've forgotten a lot of what I learned about in school. I haven't heard back yet so I'm just holding onto hope. Best of luck to both of you! I hope we all get in.

Well, I heard back from them and they want a copy of my transcripts, faculty references, and another copy of my resume before selecting people to interview. I hope you both heard back from them too. I wonder if they just go based on GPA or what their requirements are. Although my GPA wasn't the best it could be, I've always wanted to work in an urban hospital and am extremely hopeful. If anyone has any suggestions, advice, or tips, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
