    Cook Childrens 2014 Residency

Aw you guys are sweet :) No, I didn't get a call either. But, I did get another offer to a facility in Dallas. I start orientation this week and start the unit next week. I was a little bummed because I really liked Cook's, but it just wasn't in the cards for me out of nursing school. But who's to say I won't end up there eventually? :) good luck to y'all wherever you end up!

    Cook Childrens 2014 Residency

Well. I still felt like this interview wasn't great. But better than the first. The first go around, I came out crying and spent too much money at NorthPark mall for some retail therapy. There was a panel of 5 people and it was the first cohort they implemented the case study section for. This time, I had 3 people. And the case study was written in front of me instead of just being read orally. The interview questions were different. But they are tough. I have had interviews from a few other hospitals and I will say Cook Children's has been by FAR the most difficult and intimidating.

I had an interview on Monday also. It was y aeon time applying for their program. I will say or the last cohort, people get phone calls a day or 2 earlier than the rejection emails. =\ good luck to you guys.

Medical City Dallas Hospital Internship Feb 2013

Ha. I am one of those she mentioned ^^. Luckily for me, I have no living expenses as my family is in DFW. So I get to take the money and basically help pay or some wedding expenses. And thank you, I take it tomorrow morning, but I'm gladly accepting happy thoughts early. Yesterday, I was siting in the floor crying just because it has been quite overwhelming.

I don't think it is their way of wedding you out. It seems a little silly to spend money in orienting someone to a unit and then not bringing them on full-time after that period is over. I think of it more as a time for them to judge your fit into the unit, but also YOU to see how you think you fit into the unit. if you don't like it, then you aren't obligated to stay.

I think she is referring to people who sign contracts for employment. Often times if you quit before your contract is up you have to pay money vac to the facility. Kind of like a fee for breaking a rent lease early

I did cry today actually. I take mine the 18th & have a job interview tomorrow morning. I feel like this week has so much riding on it. =\. I keep trying to just stay calm because freaking out definitely won't help.

Medical City Dallas Hospital Internship Feb 2013

I also got hired at Medical City (provided I pass NCLEX this Friday (prayers please). I was a but skeptical too. But after talking with the Nurse Manager on the unit, it seemed to be a general consensus among a lot of the units they want to hire young nurses to bring some new life into the units. The particular one I was hired at will be moving to a newly renovated wing next year and the hospital is launching a new computer charting system. So, I also look at it like they are trying to take steps in a positive direction (based on what the nay-Sayers are out telling)

Yeah. They are pretty dumb/pointless/outdated. But there is so much opportunity out here in the metroplex I haven't started sweating it yet :)
