    Resignition Timeline?

Anyone heard of policy in having to give 30 days notice of resignition of RN position on med/surg tele....hospital?

    Resignition Timeline?

I tried being honest and asking I could call out and use pto for last 2 days. They said no. Wouldn't count the full 30 days. This system is fairly new to area and I drive 50 minutes to and from.

    Resignition Timeline?

My clinical manager did say she was going to see if they would make an exception for me so there is a possibility they may let me do 2 weeks without penalty. We shall see. Thanks for all replies! Happy Holidays!

    Profanity in the workplace

Floor I'm on is very toxic and negative. Cursing helps cope and let's out stress. Lol. Of course not in front of certain populations.

    Resignition Timeline?

Reason I am curious is this..........I had applied for an oncology position for which I felt strongly about, however I was too late as the position had already been filled. So I accepted another position at another facility and I have been there for 4 months and it is horrific. Last week I received a call from that previous oncology position and they wanted me to come for an interview. So I got the job that I really wanted and I am so excited. So I went to give my 2 weeks on my current job and they told me if I didnt given 30 days notice I would be on the do not hire list. My new orientation starts jan 14th.....so that means I would have 2 more days to work at old job. I really wanna do the right thing so I asked them if I could finish my 30 days but take the last 2 days off and use my pto. They said no. I check to see when the next new orientation starts and it is not until end of Feb. I dont wanna pass this great opportunity up and I am trying to do the right thing as to not leave my old job struggling with staffing......especially since another nurse up and quit the other day. What would you do?

    Need advice please?

So I was not working for 7 months waiting on a job that I thought would be a good fit for me. I'm on a med surg floor days.....it is horrible. Lack of proper staffing and no support. The total opposite of what was presented to me at the start. I should have waited for the oncology position that I wanted, and of course is now available at another facility. I just need some thoughts on what the proper thing to do. I've been at this new job since Aug. My anxiety and nausea starts at the thought of going in to work and continues while there. Any thoughts would be good. Thank you!

    Need advice please?

Thanks for all replies. The thing is I took 7 months because I needed a change but didnt know what I wanted to do. Also transitioning with a life change of empty nesting. The healthcare system that i applied for and i am currently with seemed wonderful, as well as the department. I know there is a change period with any new position and I have analyzed myself to whether its change or lack of support and unsafe. The thing is I enjoy challenge and learning new things. That's why I changed job. I honestly dont have the support I need due to lack of nurses.....plus charge has at least 4 to 5 pts. So it's basically a lack of resources. Which in turn makes it for unsafe workloads. Oh and I've been a nurse for 12 years. Just looking for the right fit to be happy positive and find balance.

What do I tell my current employer? Especially if the new one wants to call for reference? Dont mean to be stupid but dont wanna shoot myself in the foot. I want to do it in the right process.

    IV meds and dilution

I am returning to med surg after 8 years of another speciality. I am trying to find good resources concerning IV meds that need to be diluted in NS as well as iv compatability. Can anyone shout out meds that need to be diluted or reference a resource page or site? Thanks!

    Need advice

Hoping to get some advice please. Hurt my neck and shoulder to the point that any movement or deep breaths cause shooting nauseating pain. I have had this once before along time ago and md prescribed flexeril at bedtime. Have to work tomorrow.......so worried if I go to doc today would be a waste bc I'm thinking not a good idea to take flexeril at bedtime due to the long half life. I know this should be a no brainer....just turn. Thanks!

Thank you for your response. That's what my gut says but I hate calling out. Gotta do what we gotta do I guess. Thanks!

    Need advice

I was just referring to the fact if I would get in trouble for taking flexeril the night before a shift......just opinions
  19. This made me sad due to the fact of a lack of teamwork! Absolutley nothing wrong with hanging to finish. I just had a transfer from ER to me the other day and they had just hung rocephin.......the the other day I had a K+ that I had to leave for next ****. Teamwork and excellent pt care are first and foremost.

    Bad day......need thoughts

So a bad day of orientation. I've been a nurse for 11 years. Just went back to med surg. Today we had a slightly emergent issue and I was asked to spike and prime tubing with NS. The IV bags I find hard to pop the tubing entry and though i had popped the top. Other nurse walks over and pulls it out of my hand and pops the top. Gives it back to me so I'm priming the tube and halfway through she reaches over and yanks it out of my hands and proceeds to put it in pump and looks at it and says did you prime it? I said I was in the middle of priming when you took it from me. Made me feel stupid and uneducated. On top of that I've either had a preceptor that is a new employee and focused on tasks so I dont get hands on computer documentation etc......or i get someone that is so used to computer doc they blow through. I'm getting so very frustrated. Any thoughts would help.....thank you.

Thanks guys for all your response. I appreciate the support!
  22. I work on a med surg tele unit that does that. We all meet at nurse station at a set hour every day. Very helpful in collaboration and communication to produce better pt outcomes.

Yes you guys are right. Just frustrating. I appreciate your words of support. Thank you very much.

    Struggling with report

I feel your frustration. We have all been there. The most important component for keeping everything organized for me is an organized set report sheet and writing down details throughout the day. You can google nurse report sheets. They have all kinds to print. Just need to find the one that works best for you and your environment. Once you find one that works report will become easier and smoother the more you use it.
