    UTA Spring 2013

Hey everyone! Let me know if anyone has started a Facebook group, I would love to join too! I too am very anxious to get more info on what is coming. I am so excited to get things started but very nervous too! I turned in my acceptance form and my employment verification. I also requested the background check. Now just waiting to turn in immunizations and the drug testing. Can't wait to meet everyone else in the group and get to know the Parkland cohort! See you soon!

    UTA Spring 2013

So just to confirm based on the email I got, there will be a blackboard orientation and in-person orientation for the AP BSN program correct? Is there any other meeting or orientation that I am missing? Thanks!! Anyone have any ideas as to what days Parkland does their clinicals days on? Just curious

    UTA Spring 2013

Hey guys...in response to a few of the questions to me posted earlier, no I was not partnered for Fall semester unfortunately. I got my GPA from MyMav under the Degree Progress/Graduation area. I hope that helps!! I tried asking my advisor what she showed my GPA to be and she said they weren't allowed to email GPA's and she gave me a link to calculate it myself. It kind of made me mad but oh well. Let me know if anyone else hears anything!!!!

    UTA Spring 2013

Hey everyone! Just catching up. I too am so nervous about the notifications going out. I am partnered and work for Parkland on 6 West. I LOVE working there and love the people I work with so much! I applied for both the online and campus programs. I was waitlisted for the campus program in the Fall and offered the online program but for a distant location hospital, which I had to reject due to my family. Hopefully we will know something soon! Stats: 4.0 Science and now a 3.75 overall according to UTA MyMav. I had a 3.89 overall but it dropped when I got a B in patho this past summer. Oh well, hope everything works out for the best!!

    UTA Spring 2013

I too have only applied to UTA for Spring. I turned down 2 ADN schools for Fall. After talking with the dean at UTA she said I have a very good chance at getting in for Spring in the AP BSN program...hope she is right!

    UTA Spring 2013

Hi Lee1920, I believe you must still be employed by the partner hospital at the time of ranking, which is about a month or so after the actual application deadline. In fact, I believe it also states you must still be employed by them into the first semester of school if you get accepted. I would go to the Online BSN handbook and read to be sure.

UTA AP BSN Remote Locations Fall 2012

Hi StudentJen07, I too was offered this a few weeks ago. I turned down because I do have kids, but I was going to take the Good Shepherd one. I know a lady in this program at Good Shepherd and she loves it there. She does commute and rents a room from a lady there. She told me the instructors there are wonderful and really make learning everything a lot of fun. Good luck in your decision making! Congrats on being offered a spot!

    UTA FALL 2012

Well made the difficult decision today to pass on the offer for Good Shepherd. It is just too far away for me. I am married and have two young children so I just don't think it could work. The dean did tell me over the phone though that my chances for Spring entry into the AP program were really good considering my GPA and that I am employed with Parkland. I hope that is true!

    UTA FALL 2012

Well, I got called yesterday for the AP program even though I was denied for it....however, it was for two spots at distance partnerships. One was with San Antonio, totally out of the question for me, and the other was for Good Shepherd in Longview (2hr) away from me. She said clinicals for Fall would be on Mondays and Tuesdays, and beyond that she does not know if those days would change or not. I was so excited to get the call but now torn on what to do because of the distance! What would you guys do? I am employed with Parkland now and applied for Spring but of course there are people on here who were employed with a partner hospital and still didn't get in, just waitlisted. So, waiting for Spring would be a gamble. I am so confused!!!!!

    UTA FALL 2012

Hey Lee1920, who is the contact at Parkland to inquire about the spots for UTA if you don't mind telling me? I started Monday and have been in orientation....I am really enjoying it so far! There are 153 new hires in this orientation!

    UTA Spring 2013

I applied to the Spring 2012 AP program. I was rejected for Fall. I have no considerations but I am employed at Parkland hospital now. I have a 4.0 science and 3.89 overall currently.

    UTA FALL 2012

Hi Lee1920, yea I am nervous about that too. I just got the job so I know it won't be considered for Fall entry but they said it will for Spring. I will start on the 18th and will be on 6 west, surgery/trauma. I am going through the PCAT training program in July to be a PCA I. Your situation is exactly the reason why I will go ahead and start the ADN program I have been accepted to just in case I don't get called from the waitlist and/or I don't get accepted for Spring. If you got waitlisted and you have considerations and have worked for Parkland then that tells me my chances are still slim for Spring. I guess we will soon see!

    UTA FALL 2012

That happened to a friend of mine as well for Spring 2012. She was denied for the AP program and waitlisted for the traditional. She got a call 3 weeks before classes started for a spot in the AP program but it was for a partnership in Longview (Good Shepherd). She was able to do it and commit to the commute two days a week so she took it. That would be awesome to hear those words directly from the dean.....call her back and ask her to put that in writing! LOL! No really, that is awesome she said that.
