Hi! Anyone accepted in Carolinas Medical Center/ UNC Charlotte Nurse Anesthesia Program for the class of 2016? I would love to connect with some future classmates!
  3. How many schools did you apply to?

Most people apply between 2-5. I've never heard of someone applying to 10 schools but if 10 schools interest you, go for it. I intended to apply to about 4 but applied to my first choice first and was lucky enough to get in.

  5. Best study habits of a successful SRNA

Hi I just began CRNA school and I'm having some difficulty getting into the groove of studying. Any advice on your best study practices would be truly appreciated. How did you find time to read all the material? How did you prepare for exams? Anythin...

  7. Are swan-ganz (PAC) still around in your area?

I work in the CTICU and swans are phasing out. When I first started 2.5 years ago, I'd see one maybe once a week. Now I'm lucky if I see a swan once a month. They are reserved for the sicker patients.
  8. Questions regarding CCRN

You don't send any documentation about your work hours. When you apply, they ask for a contact person that can verify your hours. I have heard they do random audits to verify random people's hours. I've only heard of 1 person in my unit that was audi...

  11. How I got into CRNA school.

Congrats to everyone!! I'm in step 6. Feeling like I don't know where to begin with loans. I completed the fafsa, that's about it. I just want to be sure that my loans will cover my tuition and living expenses. I'm also anxious about moving to a new ...

    Congrats!!!!!!
  13. Feeling hopeless about future after only 6 weeks into Nursing school

I was just recently accepted and there was a heavy emphasis on my pre-reqs. My nursing courses didn't seem to matter very much so I wouldn't worry too much if I were you. Just do the best you can. The admissions committee focused on my science grades...
  14. Advice needed

As long as you are able to communicate effectively with the team, you will be fine. Just be sure to put patients first and communicate pertinent information/status changes to the team.
  15. Tips for new grad looking to be hired into CICU

Most new grads have a hard time in their first job no matter what the unit is. I don't feel that a year of step down/ tele/ med surg is necessary and everyone involved in my critical care fellowship program would agree.

  21. What Most Prepared You

  22. CCRN

Although I loved LGV, I don't feel her videos prepared me well for the CCRN. The pass CCRN questions helped me the most by far. Hope that helps
  23. Tips for new grad looking to be hired into CICU

Research critical care nurse fellowship programs. I started in the CTICU as a new grad and had an excellent orientation through a fellowship program that prepared me very well. Two years later and I'm still a CTICU nurse. Good luck!
  24. NorthShore LIJ fellowship

Yes it is paid. Very competitive salary. They require a two year commitment from the start date but you don't sign any contracts. It's more like a verbal agreement that everyone respects. My suggestion would be to contact nursing education at either ...
