  1. So last week (wed) I went in for an interview for a student nurse tech. The lady said someone would be following up with me to set up another interview with a nurse manager. She also said that once that was done, they would review all the interviewees, and then decide who got the job (there are several openings). I think I am going to call tomorrow since i have not been contacted, and just follow up i guess. I'm a little bit discouraged though. I thought the interview went quite well, but what I am worried about is this sheet i filled out before I talked to her that asked about specific skills and we were suppose to check off a. i can do without help, b. need to review c. never have. I had alot of never haves on that sheet..... stuff i have maybe done in lab but not on a real patient so i put that down. Im thinking maybe i should have just put need review, but then again i didnt want them to think that i knew what i was doing for a particular skill when i do not. I have no other experience in the medical field and was so excited when i got the call for this job, i just want to start getting comfortable working in the medical field because i feel like i am not learning that much in clinical..... ugh any thoughts?

What Does a OB/GYN Nurse Do?

I am also interested in this area, I am a junior nursing student. Wondering what the stress level is like ? I like to keep busy and all but definitely not meant for the ER or anything like that lol so i was looking into OB. Plus I think it would be exciting to work with moms, especially first time moms who need patient education. However, this is all specualtion as i have not had my OB clinical yet
  3. Which would be the priority nursing diagnosis ? Risk for suicide or ineffective health maintenance? I currently have a psych pt who has a history of previous suicide attempts and was admitted when he posted suicidal suggestive comments on fb, but denies any SI. His other main issue is non compliance with meds. He has diabetes and when at home did nothing to manage it. DId not take his insulin, did not manage his diet. Was admitted to ER on one ocassion with bg of 600. In my eyes, either one could kill him... so which would take priority ? thanks in advance
  4. Hey everyone. I'm going to be taking Pharm/pathophysiology this semester and I have heard from many that is a very difficult class. My professor has suggested we set aside 9 hours for studying and review every week IN ADDITION to class time. That seems a little extreme for me not to mention I dont have that much time, I am taking other classes and also work part time. As of right now, I am taking 3 classes in addition to that one. they include nursing interventions, psych nursing, and wellness to illness. I was thinking about adding a core class (religion) but was not sure if it would be a good idea:uhoh3: So I either have to take that extra class now and have 5 classes altogether (incl pharm) or i can just leave my schedule as is and i would have to take 5 classes next semester, those classes would be like a child bearing class , med surg (which i heard is also very hard) and others. any suggestions would be appreciated... thanks !

    nursing diagnosis help please

okay thanks for the help. I think i am just going to keep the activity intolerance since i already started and presentation is due tomorrow i just have a question about the nursing interventions and rationales. are these suppose to be taken out of the book (nursing diagnosis handbook , ackley & ladwig) or do i make them up or what? Also, some of the interventions in the book for activity intolerance do not have rationales ... what do i do about that ? i am suppose to have a rationale for each nursing diagnosis. thanksss in advance !

    nursing diagnosis help please

Hey guys im doing my first care plan (group presentation, 1 ns diagnosis per person) and have to come up with a nursing diagnosis for a young jewish mother of 2 toddlers who has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. This is what i came up withe for the diagnosis part: activity intolerance r/t generalized weakness and fatigue aeb inability to perform daily physical activities. i was wondering if the related factors have to be listed in the nanda book or not because i used fatigue as a realted factor although it is not listed. also id like to know if my aeb is too broad ? should i make it more specific such as "aeb patient verbalization of weakness/ exhaustion?" all help is appreciated ... please let me know anything else im missing my teacher did not explain this very well!!
