  1. LVN- AUSTIN TEXAS PAY

Good to know! I guess I just meant North of Austin from downtown. Still don't know much about the area other than that haha. Hopefully I find something good soon!
  2. LVN- AUSTIN TEXAS PAY

I am trying to figure out what kind of pay to expect from a LTC facility. I'm going to interviews soon and don't want to ask for too much (or too little). I recently moved to North Austin, TX (Round Rock, Cedar Park are all options for work) so I hav...
  3. LVN- AUSTIN TEXAS PAY

More information is always great but I feel so lost haha. Maybe I should ask for $25. I just don't want to lose a job opportunity over making a mistake. This would be my first job in Austin and the cost of living is higher here than where I am from, ...
  4. LVN- AUSTIN TEXAS PAY

Thanks. I looked, it's a bit sparse to be honest. It looks like at least $21. I think I am going to ask for $23 and hope I am not overshooting to the point I scare them off from counter offering.
  5. i didn't mean LPNs were bad, I was talking about the schools and the fact that their programs are so fast! I am not sure of you read my post completely but I am an LPN. I was strictly talking about the schools, not LPNs personally

  7. young mom, nursing school, job can i do it?

I went to school with a lot of people who were parents, and working. You can totally do it!
  8. I think that schools that churn out nurses are good and bad. Good because if we decided all nurses need to have a University education we would have a great shortage... so going that route will probably never work out. Bad because being a LPN in one ...
  9. Difficulty with a CNA

I would first have a serious talk with the aide and make sure they understand they need to follow what you say. Then I'd write them up until they did what they are suppose to or were fired.
  10. My First Interview!(LPN)

    Good luck!
  11. Would you marry a Doctor?

    Never!
  12. needing some advice, what would you do?

Pay cut would be way too much (for me personally). At the same time... you should do what you love, but if you're content where you are at the moment, you should stick with it.
  13. Can't Find References

You should volunteer.. then you can use them as references! :)
  14. To write up or not???

You did exactly what I would have!
  15. Why are CNAs paid less than telemarketers?

Exactly what I was going to say.
  16. Commuting.....Need advice!!!

    30 minutes
  17. HELP! Social question-over the line?

You probably should do nothing more than go out to dinner with them...
  18. Remember me? I Got Accepted!

    :yeah:
  19. Has anyone had a pt's family member take pictures of you during care?

You should tell your supervisor asap!
  20. What kind of holiday bonus do you get?

We are *suppose* to get paid for each holiday whether we work it or not. First year here, so I guess I'll find out if that is true when the check for Jan 1 comes (I'm working every other holiday). They are also giving us jackets for Christmas. Not su...
  21. This is what I dreamt about last night.

On Sunday it will be me and a CMT on my unit. I am very new and still learning everything. I know on the hall she will work there is a feeding tube feeding, and an IV for antibiotics... and I have not used either machines, nor know where the supplies...

  23. Can't stop thinking about it.

Yesterday was my 5th day of orientation. I did everything on my own except 2 insulin checks my first med pass, and my second med pass I did everything except give 5 residents their medications (the nurse who was orienting me did it because I was runn...
  24. Can't stop thinking about it.

Yeah.. I think what had everyone freaked out was that she wasn't responding to the NA or charge nurse. Then the charge nurse came to me and I told him I had given her a Tylenol PM just an hour ago.. but he still called the Dr. and had her sent out......
  25. Can't stop thinking about it.

Well she was hard to wake up which is what worried the NA and made her get the charge nurse... but that was because of the Tylenol PM... Nothing else was going on.. And yes I did take her BP and BS before giving her meds.. She drank 2 full cups of wa...
