    Northside L&D Interview

have you gone for the interview yet? I just got a position with piedmont L&D...im not new grad (1 year critical care experience) and i thought she would ask me alot of scenario questions but she mainly asked about my current job details and how i felt about team work.. i think you could probably just prepare yourself for a basic interview just remain confident and explain on different levels how you can be an asset to the hospital and how much you really want to work for them. Best of luck to you....

For those new grads who are employed, what's your method?

Apply Apply Apply! Even if it says "experienced ONLY".

How long after orientation before you start on the unit?

Turning down a position - ok to email?

Honestly I would take the job because even though L&D is kind of a specialty you get a mixture of med surg in it as well... Think about it... It's VERY HARD to get a position on a L&D floor...you already voiced how nice and how excited they were to have you...Now...what if you don't get that on the Med -Surg floor??? You sign a contract, (of course because you're a new grad and they don't want to put money into and you run away) and then your stuck for 12-24 months....THINK ABOUT IT

    Urine test

Ummmmmmm...you may or may not get the job..maybe you can tell them that you're in the process of quitting or something..and maybe should think about quitting as well because after a while NO hospital will hire a smoker just because they have a no smoking policy. My hospital is actually going smoke free as of Jan 1st 2011... Thank goodness because a L&D patient was in labor smoking a cig in her room...with OXYGEN in the room.........DEAR LORD!

Sex in a LTC...is this ok?

Sex in a LTC...is this ok?

A really close girlfriend of mine who is a new grad works in a LTC Facility on the 11p-7a shift. While doing her rounds she walks in on two residents having sexual intercourse.she didn't stop she simply walked out the room in shock. Was she suppose to say something or is this allowed? There was no record of either of them having a spouse that was in the LTC so we know they weren't married...is this allowed in hospitals? I'm a new grad as well and never heard of this being OK..

GA, CO, or TX Which state has a higher pay rate for RN?

New grad pay is low EVERYWHERE... If you find a place that is paying a new grad high you need to check the cost of living 10 times out of 10 it's going to be HIGH!!!
