  1. Yale GEPN 2014 Applicants

NYC is about an hour and a half to two hours away from Orange/New Haven via MetroNorth (West Haven or Union Station). Yes, students go to the big apple from time to time! :) Either just to visit, or even to go to conferences there. Depending on your ...
  2. Yale GEPN 2014 Applicants

That's really interesting ;-) I wonder why our stats differ (482 vs >600). I can't really say where I got this info without breaking the ToS.
  3. Yale GEPN 2014 Applicants

More than 600 applicants this year. More than 200 to midwifery.
  4. Yale GEPN 2014 Applicants

Be aware that YSN is no longer in New Haven, but on "West Campus" which is in Orange, CT, 15-20 minutes west of New Haven. It's more suburbia there, and not crappy in the sense that New Haven is.
  5. Yale GEPN Applicants 2012

Yes, midwifery seems to be the most competitive. For this year's incoming class, they had the highest GPA and GRE scores. The breakdown in specialty seems to differ from year to year.
  6. Yale GEPN Chances

Honestly it's really hard to say. The GRE is just one of many components they look at, so there's probably a somewhat decent variety of scores amongst admitted applicants.
  7. Yale GEPN Applicants 2011

Hi - I applied to Hopkins for 2011 start. From my applications, Yale was the only one that had a fall start - all my other applications had summer starts. My acceptance for JHU this year was really weird - they had a ton of trouble communicating with...

I found this randomly on google: http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=52936853994&topic=8350 Speaking of which - I've noticed in other threads that every other school has a facebook page up... is anyone creating one for Yale?
  9. Columbia University ETP 2011

Hi WilliamsRower, This is from last year's Yale thread: https://allnurses.com/ct-nursing-programs/yale-gepn-fall-390981-page28.html#post4181742
  10. Columbia University ETP 2011

Methodology is stated here: http://www.usnews.com/education/articles/2010/04/15/the-health-rankings-methodology "All the health rankings are based solely on the results of peer assessment surveys sent to deans, other administrators, and/or faculty ...

In general, good prices for California to NYC roundtrip would be around $300. Not sure what prices would be like with 1 week to buy. Also, instead of JFK, consider Newark (EWR). It's probably easier to get to Columbia from Newark than JFK. Just take ...
  12. Columbia University ETP 2011

How long is your commute? How many times a week do you go to school?
  13. Columbia University ETP 2011

(This is just a guess: ) Every year, the midwifery (and anesthesia) program selects certain number of students to their respective programs. They have already selected their class for midwifery. Columbia allows you to switch in and out of specialties...

I just found this and thought I'd share: So You Got into Columbia's ETP (2009 Start): Helpful hints I wish I knew when I moved to NYC
  15. Columbia University ETP 2011

Thanks for this. I've only been considering New Have Line thus far.
  16. Columbia University ETP 2011

I think she meant north/south of the 1/A line. For Metro North (not familiar with the LIRR), the stops are either 125th Harlem or Grand Central, and neither are convenient to get to Columbia. I have a kid and don't know if the city (and its public sc...
  17. Columbia University ETP 2011

Is a car commute possible? I just figured car + NYC was a bad idea. I was thinking it might actually be easier to go down all the way to grand central then switch to the subway and ride north... I do realize living in Jersey might be easier (NE Corri...
  18. Columbia University ETP 2011

Is anyone planning to commute and not live in the city? I would love to live in the suburbs (CT maybe?) but the public commute doesn't seem too friendly...
  19. UPenn accelerated BSN 2011...anyone?

Just curious- did anyone not go to Penn for an interview (did a phone interview) and get accepted?
  20. OHSU Accelerated Bachelors to Masters 2011

"I want to take a moment to let you know that a final itinerary for interviews will be sent tomorrow morning. We have had to do some last minute schedule shuffling and we should have things finalized soon. I certainly don't want to leave you ha...

Hi Tanya, I'm in San Diego. I'm still trying to sort out my travel plans. Last flight out of New Haven is 3pm, and the last flight out of Hartford is 5:30pm... looks like I'll have to stay an additional night and leave in the morning? It's looking li...
  22. Yale GEPN Applicants 2011

I got an interview for Midwifery. Are there any other West-Coasters considering flying out to the interview on the 20th? How are you making travel arrangements?
