Anyone Recommend Hurst to Help Before/During Nursing School?

I took the Hurst Review the summer between my first and second years of nursing school. To me, it was like nursing school condensed into a week's worth of lectures. I'm glad I did it and would encourage any nursing student to sit for the review, even before completing nursing school. It helped me greatly. I was able to use the book as a study guide while in school. It gives you pretty much everything you need to know without all of the fluff. ...and besides, you're probably going to pay for a review anyway. With Hurst, you can take as many times as you want for a full year. I'll be doing Hurst again (for the 4th time) next week. I feel like the more I hear it, the more it will sink in. I think that's true even if you haven't had the material yet.

Holmes ADN Program Ridgeland- What should I expect?

I'm not sure any school is better than the other. From what I've heard, they are all disorganized. This has been the most intensive two years of my life. My "breaks" weren't exactly breaks (Spring break, Thanksgiving). I am just this past week catching up on much needed sleep that I have been deprived. My nerves are shot from all of the cramming, clinical paperwork, schedule changes (at the last minute), attempted program changes right before graduation, group projects that become the responsibility of only a couple of group members....I could go on and on. I think livRN2012 can back me up on much of this. At the beginning of each semester (except the first), I felt so burnt out I almost quit. You just won't understand until you live it. ...and if anyone tells you that the hardest part is getting into nursing school or that 2nd and 4th semester are the easiest, they're lying.

Holmes or MDCC Acceptance Letters 2012

I know what you mean. I felt the very same way last year. I worried if I'd get an acceptance to Holmes before I had to commit to Hinds. Luckily, my letter came in the day before I had to commit to Hinds. Holmes was just a closer location for me. The other day I asked our secretary at Holmes in Ridgeland and she did say that she was telling everyone to expect their letters the latter part of May but hoping they'd go out the middle part of May. The letters come from Grenada and I believe only one secretary is in charge of that. I will say this in their defense....last year there were 787 applicants. They all have to be weighed with a points system before acceptance/rejection letters can go out. Several factors go into the quantity of points: ACT, GPA, ACT reading and math scores, living within or out of a district, etc.

Holmes or MDCC Acceptance Letters 2012

I have heard that students are already coming in at the Ridgeland campus with their acceptance letters. I hope y'all hear something soon. For those that will be starting in the Fall at Ridgeland, the second year students are hoping to get together with y'all sometime this summer for a meet and greet and hoping to give you some direction. We were lost last year and wished we had had someone to tell us what to expect. So, if you're interested, let us know. We'd be glad to help. We were once in your shoes.

I'm currently in the ADN program at Holmes in Ridgeland. I received mine April 27th of last year, if that helps.

Holmes ADN acceptance letters for Fall 2011

    Congratulations!!!:)
  9. Okay, so I received my acceptance letter today from Holmes for their ADN program in Ridgeland. My question goes out to current and former students. What should I expect? schedule, clinicals (farthest distance, hospitals, etc.), expenses, instructors, course load, study time, ability to work during the program, and anything else anyone can think of?

Holmes ADN acceptance letters for Fall 2011

Thank erin_b. I sure hope they go out this week. I didn't receive anything today so I'm guessing she wasn't able to get them out yesterday. I feel like calling her and telling her I'll drive to Grenada and help her if she needs some help. :)

I wonder if they were held up by the Good Friday holiday last week. I'm so anxious to find out something that I don't have a fingernail left. They've all been chewed.

Not yet...still patiently waiting. Have you heard any news from the school about sending out anymore letters or from anyone that has applied about whether they've received a letter or not?
