  1. I'm glad I was rescheduled for CPR today. The TNSA ladies taught it and they were wonderful! Definitely a positive experience. I'm sorry some of you had the mean man. I was originally supposed to go on Tuesday. Definitely glad I didn't now. I haven't been completely consumed by reading, but I've been trying to read a chapter or so a day, plus the CIDs. It is sorta helping me get back in the groove of things.
  2. For those of you who are taking CPR through TCC, how easy is it to get to the room the TNSA representatives told us about? I guess the one in building 9?
  3. Did anyone else receive a call today from B? Apparently someone at the campus deleted names off of the CPR registration, so they had to reschedule my day. Total bummer since my husband starts class at UTA on the 25th too. Would have been nice to get CPR out of the way prior to that.
  4. I was having issues registering, so I e-mailed Bev yesterday and she had it fixed within a few hours.
  5. I was unable to register today too and I thought it was because of the CPR class. However, I spoke to Bev and she said they are granting petitions even without the CPR class. Still can't register though...
  6. I saw a bunch of moving trucks outside of the SO campus nursing school today. I guess they are trying to get the rest of their stuff over to the new building?
  7. My dad ended up handing down a really nice wheely bag for me. He got it in Korea during a business trip and it has plenty of space. I can fit my purse and laptop in it without a problem. I think it is technically a luggage item, but it works :)
  8. Are we able to register without having the CPR class done if we are taking it through TCC? Or does that have to be completed first prior to signing up for classes?
  9. I have that clinical schedule :)
  10. ab, were you the first person in there? Maybe I saw you :) Also, name tags are in at the South campus bookstore.
  11. Wow...no parking? That's pretty poor planning on their part. I hope they have something in mind for us. Walking in the heat and rain doesn't really sound like much fun, especially with the 20lbs of hair I have on my head.
  12. I gave in and just ordered the Cherokee scrub pants because the colors matched the best. I did get my Grey's Anatomy tops though :)
  13. Hey guys! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer vacation and last month of freedom :) I have a question for you all about scrubs. I went to Dorothy's yesterday to match up the patch with the proper colors. I noticed that the Cherokee Teal Blue is pretty much a perfect match, but I'm plus size and they just didn't seem to fit as well for me. So, I was looking at the Barco NRG in the Breeze color. These fit a lot better, but the patch and pants color aren't an EXACT match. It's a little off, but it still looks teal enough in my opinion. I was wondering if anyone else has purchased or is thinking about purchasing the Barco NRG scrubs in that color? I know Txmommy said that there are going to be a lot of different teal shades, but I just want to make sure I won't be the odd one out haha.
  14. Thanks Dreamer! Yeah, our SKUs match, so I guess I have to call them to get the Nursing Lab stuff sent to me.
  15. Do you remember which book option you picked? I'm just wondering if there was a package or something that I was supposed to get that came with My Nursing Lab. I didn't see one...so is that My Nursing Lab access code something we have to purchase separately?
  16. Okay, for those of you who ordered your Fundamentals of Nursing book from Majors... On our sheet, it says to order the book with the internet access. So, I picked the book on the Majors website for $115 that says 'internet access included' or something along those lines. It also says there is an interactive CD-ROM. My book that I received today does not have a CD and I'm unsure about where this internet access is supposed to be accessed lol. What book did you guys receive?
  17. Anyone have any advice for stethoscopes? I know most people are getting Littman's, but any particular style? And where did you guys get them? Also, I haven't checked the orientation letter lately. The orientation is at the 'old' TR campus, not the allied health one, right?
  18. My sister is sending me her reference books in the mail, so I'm okay with that part. But I do have to order the APA book and I guess the Fundamentals book now too. So much money! Also, were you the one who was talking about a good deal on a stethoscope, Dreamer? I can't remember.
  19. I've been trying to enjoy this month as well. We've had family in town, which has been really nice :) Also, I found out a few days ago that I got one of the TCC foundation scholarships. Pretty exciting since I can't get financial aid anymore other than loans :) I just went to finish up my vaccines this morning, so that's another thing I finally got done. I have a question for you guys though. I bought the package of books, which I picked up a week ago or so. I am currently in the process of getting some reference books on Amazon, but then I noticed a book from the list that I'm missing. It's the first one...'Fundamentals of Nursing Concepts, Process and Practice.' Did you guys get that in your package or is that something we get later?
  20. When I paid for my stuff, I had the lady type out a description for what I paid for and she printed each of them on a separate page so I can show it as proof.
  21. For those of you buying the Grey's Anatomy scrubs, did y'all happen to confirm if Jade is the correct color? I would normally just go to a scrub store to check, but I'm in the plus sizes and I'm not really sure about the size selection at a retail store. Might have to get them online, but I wanted to verify the color first.
  22. Awesome! I'll look into those. My sister recently finished nursing school, so I'm beginning to wonder if maybe she has some of those reference books still sitting around. Worth a shot, huh?
  23. Bahhh! All of this talk about scrubs makes me want to go purchase some, but I'm trying to wait in case I lose a lot more weight and they don't fit anymore And as much as I used to hate those backpacks on wheels, I do believe I will be using one. Also, I know everyone has mentioned this already for the most part, but I felt bombarded with info. So...I'll just ask again. What reference books did everyone end up purchasing? My husband and I are on a pretty tight budget, so I don't really want to buy more than I actually need.
  24. I just received a voicemail from someone at the TR campus bookstore. She said the package is ready for pick-up. Did anyone else get that too?
  25. Ugh, I know what you mean, studentCL. I'm already $40,000 in student loan debt and they still won't give me a pell grant even though I'm married now and poor!
