    Kaplan scores and readiness???

I just took the class and they told us you want to aim for 65% on QT 4 and 5 and 60% on 7 and 6. So I would say your ready.

    August 2012 COT

I'm active duty. I"m commissioning through the Nurse Enlisted Commissioning program (NECP). I used to work in communications (network defense type) but since I was picked up for the program I have been just going to school the past couple of years. Now I'm just studying up and waiting to take the NCLEX. I can tell you whatever you want to know about military life, uniforms, pt, etc . I know what will happen for me as far as commissioning goes but I don't know anything about the civilian process. Midinphx may be able to shed some light for you. As far as what to expect if it's anything like our process. Once you sign and take the oath your paperwork is sent to Air Force Personnel Center (AFPC), they handle assignments and orders for the Air Force. Once you get your orders you'll have to do some medical clearance stuff for your family, get your appointments scheduled for the movers to pack up and pick up your stuff. This process is not to big a deal the movers usually come in the AM about 0900 and pack everything if you have a two story I usually like to have a friend there with me so someone is there to keep an eye on what's going on upstairs while I'm downstairs. They're usually done and gone with your stuff sometime that afternoon. It'll be a tight timeframe depending on when you get your orders it is doable. Just make sure any important papers you'll need (birth certificates, marriage license, etc) are somewhere where they won't inadvertently get packed away during the move. Sorry I couldn't shed anymore light on things for you but I hope this helps some.

Once you have orders in hand you should be able to schedule your move.

Samm0705 they will pack everything for you. Usually the only thing I do is take everything out of cabinets (so nothing gets left), consolidate things how I want them packed, and separate the things I don't want packed and will be carrying with me. They will also unpack for you ad take away the boxes at the other end if you want them to.

  16. Dudette10, I am a newly graduated BSN (waiting to take NCLEX) and I don't find your use of personal examples or the agency nurse as holier than thou. I found/take both as advice on your experience of what worked/s for you to help increase your knowledge and confidence. I believe you meant this to be simply advice to fellow new nurses using your own experiene and not an opportunity to bash an agency nurse/fellow nurse or to proclaim how you are this wonderful super nurse. So that being said people will interpret in different ways based on their perception and life experiences. Some will find fault and some will find valuable advice as I did. For the lesson that I took from it thank you.
