  1. N95 vs. Surgical Mask for TB PPE

Tuberculosis Mycobacterium tuberculosis is a fairly large rod-shaped bacterium. The rods are 2-4 microns in length and 0.2-0.5 microns in width. TB is spread from person to person through the air. When a person with infectious TB coughs or sneezes...
  2. N95 vs. Surgical Mask for TB PPE

Your IC specialists are absolutely wrong. With the increased risk of multidrug resistant TB, an appropriate respirator is mandatory (N95, even N100 for deadly forms in USA, FPP2 pr FPP3 in EEC - same masks). 2 surgical masks will not be an efficient ...
  3. Are You Using the Right Mask?

:yawn:Your unit is wrong, if N95 masks are not available at any time (a worse case could be a MDR or XDR tuberculosis patient!), you should have denied to enter the room without being fitted with the appropriate respirator. At least, in emergency as...

  8. My hospital's new PPE policy!

You can reuse masks if used against dust particles, or even TB particles (dry); but against a flu/sars diseases type, you MUST use a mask only once. It is soiled likely by patient's cough and so on.
  9. Are You Using the Right Mask?

Hi what you tell is akward - hope you are always fine ... A few comments: An N95 mask does not filter vapors, only particulates and aerosols. So it can happen you taste the smell of some odours/gases. BUT if you taste during the fit test with approve...
  10. Hi Ac "My hospital chose not to follow the CDC guidelines for about 3 weeks, during which time I got the virus. Now, we are using reusable respirators (what a pain!), which I question the purpose of, once one has had the virus/been vaccinated." My tw...
