    BMCC - - Pre-Nursing Students.....

Get all A's in the prerequisites and have a GPA above a 3.7 at least it is very competitive!

    Can I still do it?

A tutor helped me with my sciences, but I am also a self learner

    Can I still do it?

I agree with all of you. I was working full time while doing the foundation courses. I also got great grades, but in New York the programs are so competitive. I am still fighting to get into school! No worries though I'm sure you will have no problems increasing you gpa. Just stay the course

    Can I still do it?

I'm starting to feel the same way! I've been told no by a few programs because of a few bad courses...10 years ago:bluecry1: I am at the point where I want to give up, but I know I can do it. You just have to keep the failth and work harder than yo ever had in your life. I am a terrible test taker, but I was able to get a decent score on the NLN Entrance Exam whike taking Microbiology and Developmetal Psych. You can do it!

    NYU, SUNY Downstate

Thanks! I never thought getting a nursing education would be this hard. Not taking the classes but actually getting into the school. I've never jumped through so many hoops for different programs in my life. The higher Uppsala in the nursing septa everywhere should be ashamed of themselves. Yesterday I looked into and rn program at a school that shall remain namless and the advisor was in a rush to leave for the weekend. She was not a nice person and basically told me not to try for this nursing program because of a c in psychology ten years ago. I have since re taken the class and received an A. This is what is wrong with the nursing programs today. They take you based on a number and not who you are. Hopefully suny will see who I am and accept me

    NYU, SUNY Downstate

I am so nervous about getting accepted into this school. I have heard bad things as well but this is in my price range, especially if I can't work for a year. I dropped my app off in person on nov 6 because I wanted to make sure they had it in hand. I saw how the office is run and I can totally understand the administrative complaints. I just want to start nursing school already

    All About the NET

You can do it witcher7. Although I am not a mother of four, I do work full time and am also taking three classes. It was really hard to study for the net but I read on my way to school( on the train), at lunch breaks, and I stayed up late. Do whatever you can to increase your grade. Good luck
  8. I Know. I have no idea how I am going to pay for Nyu but as my mom says, "the first step is getting in the door." I eventually want to be an NP and I just want to get in the door. Hopefully someone will let me in.
  9. WOW Tanguera, I actually dropped my application for Suny off last week an I am so afraid now. If it wasn't for the cost then I wouldnt even consider it. I did also apply to NYU and am waiting to hear. There are not enough choices in ny for second degree students:smackingf

    All About the NET

Just wanted to Let yall know I took the net last Friday. I got a 73% on the reading and a 93% on the math. This feed helped! Also I did break down and buy the online ERI program too. It helped as well.'m just glad I got over a 60% on the reading. Hopefully Suny Downstate will admit me!

    BMCC - - Pre-Nursing Students.....

Thanks elleny. I agree with you because I have been in some courses where the students have a "high school attitude" and I don't remeber acting that way in undergrad. Once a girl actually answered her phone and began to speak! My undergrad was also very expensive as well and I am looking into a cheap alternative. Bmcc is a good program, but u just don't like their admissions practices. I will apply to the spring again, but I also applied to Nyu($$$$$$$$) and Suny($$) downnstate. I will apply to pace for the fall. With your undergrad degree you should def consider an accelerated program if you can take the time off(day program only). By the way for micro you should take beaupierre. She was very tough and had me scared in the begining. But if you can handle her then you'll learn a lot. True, she does grade you for eveything from bringing your book to class to answering questions, but I still got an A

    BMCC - - Pre-Nursing Students.....

AMEN Larosiliere7! I had a really good preclinical GPA for the evening program (all A's and one B from ten years ago), but I missed it by .07 of a point. What really upsets me is that they save spaces for union members with lower gpa's (trust me they do). I am now forced to apply to other day programs which means I get to quit my job during a recession. Not to mention the ridiculous cost of these other schools. How wonderful for me!

    BMCC Nursing Program

I do not recommend the program if you have a Bachelors degree. I have some friends who are currently taking the courses and they say it's really hard. If you do choose to appl make sure you have a 4.0. Especially if you apply to the day program. If you are an 1199 union member they give preference. You can take chem 118 if you want. It is a bit easier. I did apply to the program for the fall but was denied because my 3.7 was too low. Good luck

How to Apply for NYU 15-Month Program

Just curious when everyone applied? I was contacted by someone in the admission office because they didn't receive one of my transcripts and they wanted to know when I would be finished one of my courses. Is that a good sign?
