  4. Help me choose the days I work/schedule

  5. Help me choose the days I work/schedule

My shift differential is only $2 per hour on weekends. Weekends are the only full days that the kids are home.
  6. Help me choose the days I work/schedule

The dread of knowing I will be doing nothing but work for the next two full days. Sorry, that is not something I am chipper about. I have a desk job, so I would not get the same patients back anyway. Maybe I will rethink the two in a row. I could d...

I'm debating that. I just worry I will be so tired. Also, the feeling of dread waking up on the first day, knowing you have two 12's in a row...

  11. General refresher or OR refresher? Needed?

I am not in the US. Here you take an OR course through a college. Then you apply for jobs.
  12. General refresher or OR refresher? Needed?

I am going to spend a few months thinking about what I want to do. i just found out that George Brown has a course where it's a skills refresher. I could take that course only. It's theory but then you practice in a lab. It is part of the refresher b...
  13. Any Canadian nurses in Buffalo?

I've wondered the same thing, let me know if you find out any info. do you know how the pay compares?
  14. Just wondering? Sometimes I just know, like when they talk to you like you got the job. Other times I have been sure I got the job and didn't end up getting it. Then also, I have thought I didn't interview well-only to end up getting the job. Do you ...
  15. Just curious as to how many people took a pay cut to switch to a job that has better hours or is more enjoyable or closer to home? How much of a cut did you take? I was offered a job that would be nice, in a plastic surgeon's office but the pay cut w...
  16. Making career moves...

Good for you. That is great.
  17. Wow! Just wow. NB needs to get with the times.

But why are you comparing the shortest RN program with the longest RPN programs? When I was in school, in 1993 RPN program was 8 months. But I can't pick and choose the stats and compare an eight month RPN program with a four year RN degree. Why are...

Did you have the interview? Have you been offered the job?
  19. Taking a break from nursing [Ontario]

Lots of people take years off. Mat leave is one year, so taking a year off is no big deal. There isn't a minimum of nursing hours needed for renewal in Ontario.
  20. Telehealth Nursing

I know two people who worked there. Apparently, they time all your calls and they listen in. They also time your washroom breaks. They both turned me off of applying there. Keep us posted on how things work out.
  21. Talk to me about cysto

Its been a while since I have done cysto. How many do you do in a day? How many nurses in the room? Mostly done under local? If not, do you have an anesthetist? RNs wouldn't do any sedation as they sometimes do in endoscopy units, correct? How long a...

  23. Talk to me about cysto

Of course each facility is different. I wanted to see how OTHERS do it and how it varies.

I was wondering how OTHER facilities do it. Of course it varies by facility.
  25. Long drive after night shift

I work days now PT. I am looking to pick up a casual job on the side. I interviewed and was pretty much offered a casual job. It's 11pm-7am. I could work as few or as many shifts as I want, likely 1 per week. Anyway, the kicker is the 50 minute commu...
