I just graduated from SDSU's program. Dr. Hunter is the director of the program and does a great job. The placements are at UCSD, Palomar, Kaiser, Pendelton, Balboa, and other local clinics. I am very happy with my education.

I agree that you should tell the patients about the risk. I think both the patient and the family are less frightened if they know what is going on and that what is happening is common and that there are things we can do to correct.

I think the previous poster covered the majority of meds that we use. The only thing I would add is the pain meds we use like motrin. I think that a good L&D nurse also has to be good at working under pressure and quick decision making skills....

8 beds 1 Nurse!!! I think that is ridiculous and UNSAFE. We have an 8 bed triage unit. We have central monitoring. Our beds are all seperated by walls but just curtains for closure. We have one completly private room. We see all pregnant patients...

Thank you for the sites. I never thought to check there. Money isn't a top priority. Right now we live in California so I think with the decrease in cost of living we could survive on less.

I delivered my son where I worked at the time. I had a choice to deliver there or at another hospital. I figured that I knew the people I worked with and could trust them to give me the best care. I wouldn't have had it any other way.
