  1. Yale's program

In order to offer a BSN, criteria (credit hours) would have to be increased. The accrediting bodies decide what needs to be included in curriculum, the Yale program does not fulfill BSN criteria. It is not a financial ploy to get more money out of s...
  2. Becoming an NP with little to no nursing experience??

.....Trauma - Yale has been graduating entry level NPs since the 70's - it is certainly nothing new. Just becoming more available. I have heard from instructors at Yale that in about two years, an entry level grad is at the same level of practice a...
  3. Becoming an NP with little to no nursing experience??

Are you wanting to be an NP in the ER?
  4. Yale GEPN vs. UPenn BSN/MSN -- thoughts?

I did figure out the "procedure" after I had posted a few times; I apologize for my inadequacy. If anyone wants to ask me questions on a personal level, I will be glad to answer them or point you in some direction. Yale University is over 300 years ...
  5. Direct Entry GRADUATE NPs

Just stating what my experience was in the case of my ex-fiance' (now friend) in reference to psychiatry. He had very little in med school (Finch U.) and probably less while "we" were in his residency (Oregon HSU). Lots of ER time, but very liitle ...
  6. Direct Entry GRADUATE NPs

.....sorry about any PA mistakes, things have changed since I looked at it. I have worked with PAs who were awesome in the ER and my PCP growing up was a PA who was very sweet and gentle. The PAs in the ERs I have been in have always had to run and...
  7. Direct Entry Psych MH NP programs

That is pretty standard.....about the science pre-reqs. I've usually seen them accepted for only 5 or 7 years though. Things change so fast with research -
  8. Becoming an NP with little to no nursing experience??

Faculty in these types of programs may not have an exactly unbiased opinion of the activities they participate in.....like all of us.
  9. Almost 10% of the class of 2007 dropped out for one reason or another at Yale during the last 2 years - don't know how many the first year or between years 1 and 2 of the GEPN
  10. Yale GEPN and UCSF MEPN interview days the same!

The fact that Yale does phone interviews kind of tells you everything you need to know.
  11. Yale GEPN vs. UPenn BSN/MSN -- thoughts?

Don't go to Yale; your initial impressions of BlueJune's interview visit are very indicative of things to come - generally speaking of course.
  12. Direct Entry Psych MH NP programs

    Don't go to Yale
  13. Yale's program

Seems the ACNPs enjoyed their clinical experiences, but really I don't know. You could ask your specialty director to give you some names of current/past students maybe....or the asst. dean of student affairs; he is one of the most supportive people...
  14. Yale's program

Student's perception of the program seems to vary much with the specialty they are in, and if they are in the GEPN program or already an RN at entry. Seems the FNPs did less complaining then our group - we pretty much all hated it. They do have a n...
  15. Direct Entry GRADUATE NPs

I don't love the idea of DE - but can say the people that attended the one at my school were anything but lazy. The "boot camp" first year, and then 2 years of the master's program must be like learning a new language and culture for them. I often wo...
