  1. ICU floating to stepdowns/magnet status

We are a Magnet hospital. When we achieved status years ago, we no longer had to get pulled, except to another icu. This changed around April this year, and we are getting pulled at least once a week...very stressful for those of us who have been ic...

thanks, but I can't do agency nursing for a number of reasons--nood the sick pay, vacation/holiday pay, insurance; plus I work in ICU which requires a certain degree of continuity of care. Good idea, though...I'm just too old to not have benefits!
  3. ICU nurse to pt ratio "norm" on your unit?

yes, i agree that someone should notify the magnet council. nurses think the status is just a joke; it means nothing. i don't usually have 3 vents, unless they are all long term gomers. i could have 2 vents and an overdose, or other benign patient. o...

  8. Wages for seasoned RN's (10+ years)

I'm in canton, ohio and am at the top of the scale at 28.35 for ICU, plus shift and charge. I'm curious what some other RN's are topping out at at their hospitals for either ICU or ER THanks! Also--you you get paid any extra to have your CCRN (or...

  10. Nervous and need some help!!

Good luck! Keep in mind that you are giving up one solid year of your life, and that means a lot of time away from baby. Make sure youi have a reliable support system set up, and remember, IT's ONLY A YEAR and YOU CAN DO IT.
