   I was a CNA while in LVN school.... I will be going to LVN-RN bridge this Aug 08, obviously, I will be working as an LVN at a nursing home for 16-24 hours per week....

   just for my LVN alone, i hv a $21,000 loan and still trying to make monthly payments... i went to a private school... i will be bridging to RN this aug '08.... it's a community college... i hd money saved up from my tax refund and used that money to pay my tuitions for jst the 2nd semester where im bridgin into.... i havent bought the books yet... im currently working ryt now.. im hoping to save up jst enough money for books, and for the next two semesters... i will still be going to work while in nursing school... the class/clinical will only be 3 days a week. im hoping i will hv enough time to study and jst a few hours to work to pay for gas and food.... i dont want to loan for my RN... I hv enough bills to pay. i do hv car payments, rent, bills, etc... though my mom is very helpful, i dont want to take her money either... i jst cant wait to start nursing school....

   thanks for the reply... I don't know exactly what kind of visa she have. Im thinking an immigrant visa? I dont think she has a working visa, but I havent asked her yet... How come some RNs from philippines worked as an LVN and then eventually got their RN here in the US? well, like you said, the working visas..... what about just taking the CNA? where can she apply for that and what are the requirements???

   I have a friend who is a new RN grad from the Philippines. She's in California right now. She havent taken the nclex-rn yet. She's new in the area and I'm trying to help her get some ideas and informations. Right now she is working as a private caregiver and at the same time studying for her nclexrn. But i dont know exactly when she's planning to take her nclx rn.... She happened to ask me if where could she take a CNA classes, but she prefers online classes and also take the board test online for CNA. There's some nursing home facilities that offer CNA courses or even community colleges, but she prefers online... I know there's some RN grads from the Philippines that started as a CNA before they actually got their license as an RN. But I also think that it would be better for her to jst challenge the LVN board exam... I am an LVN myself, started as a CNA and I am hoping to start my LVN-RN advance placement this fall semester in August... I am excited!!! But anyway, i jst dont know exactly what to tell her. If i was her, I would challenge the LVN boards.... how can she go about applying either one, CNA or LVN.... Thank you for your comments and ideas... I really appreciate it...

   sometimes doctors doesnt write legibly. the nurse must have read it wrong for whatever reason and did not check with the doctor and other nurses. 32 vials is a lot! i could jst imagine myself drawing up all those vials. that takes time to draw them all up!!!! there's something wrong in her head.... and it was wrong what she did.... i dont see any reason why they fired the doctor... the doctor should not be fired... what happened to 5 rights...? this is a lesson learned... prayers and support to all parties......

   my co-worker, an RN, was pulled over by a police officer. she was speeding. we both work 3-11 shift. of course she was in a hurry to get home, and she gets home late. so the officer asked her why she's in a hurry, she said that she didnt mean to and that she was tired and told the officer that she's a nurse. the officer let her go and didnt give her a ticket. you dont have to have a lic. plate on your car to be recognized as a nurse. but honestly, let's all drive safe. it's just a matter of self-discipline. either way, u will never get away if you did any violations. drive safely people and buckle up!

    Im a recent LVN grad. i have my license for almost 3 months now. i am working at a LTC. and i work the 3-11 shift. i like it.. i dont love it, but just like chicklet2 said, u get to sleep in and can stay up late. im not a morning person. but the hours works best for me because i do go to school in the morning, just one course for this fall semester. and im in class for an hour only mon-thurs. and after class i go straight to work... im trying to finish up my pre-reqs for the RN progm. but yah, it is really up to the person on which shifts works best...

    for these schools, is it an lvn-bsn/msn, or rn to bsn/msn?? im a new grad lvn. and i hvent finishd my pre-reqs at a community college and i wanna get my rn... i dont know which route i shud take after taking all my prereqs....

    im from south california and i hv workd as a nurse tech while i was in nursing skool. my floor was telemetry. and the RNs there really have the chance to get floated to ICU, ER, or cathlab and other dept (ortho & onco). although they dont like to get floated... which i think is really nice coz youll get that experience workn on those critical floors. and they say that they get all kinds of patients from ER, ICU, CCU, ortho, and onco... which makes it easy for the nurses there to step up and consider getting in the ICU/CCu floor right away (with courses). it is a good foundation to start with..... im thinking of going back to a telemetry floor as an lvn once i get my license but ill probably wont work on the same hospital ive workd at as a nurse tech.... though i dont work there anymore....

    my instructor in lvn prgm work at a correctional facility. he's an RN going on for his MSN.. he's a guy, a big bald guy.. hehe... i asked him if it's scary to work there. he said it's not since you jst hv to give meds and also maybe paperworks. and there's correctional officers everywhere. and he said that you have to carry this kind of a remote thing with a button and u jst hv to push it and in 3 sec, the CO are there. but what if in 3 sec u already got beaten up? but yah, on tv like those insiders on primetime tv show, ive seen nurses jst passing meds.... im sure they do more than that....

    congrats to all that passed.... i passed too.... nclex-pn i found out today.... i hv waited 4 weeks!!! and i was starting to lose hope.... i took mine on 6/23rd. i rescheduled once on 5/24th to take it on 6/23rd.... i wasnt ready for it then, even though on the 6/23rd, i still wasnt ready to take it, and i almost reschedule for the 2nd tym, im so glad i didnt.... u will never be ready to take it no matter how much u have studied.. and i crammed on the week before my test, i know ur supposed to relax, which i did for a bit on the day before the test... but yah, it was the most horrible feelng when getting ready for it and taking the test until waiting for the result..... i opened our mailbox and saw the envelope!!! it was the small envelope... i already knew i passed from reading here in this website that if u get a small envelope means u passed, a big envelope means u failed, big envelope for more paperwork to fill out to retake it... i ran upstairs and opened it.... saw my picture on the candidate report and quickly scanned the paper and finally found wat i was looking for.... "has passed" in caps and bold letters!!! i really was looking for the initial lvn right after my name.... but yah, tears fell off my eyes.... i cried... i called my mom and the rest of my family... i didnt call my bf coz i wanted to tell him in person, which i did today. i know theyre all happy..... i know i am.... i feel like my soul has lifted me.... im so happy and very thankful to god...
