@apragma525, it may or may not be a couple of days, depending on your unit or outpatient clinic. Some people get called a couple of days others get called within a few weeks. When I interviewed they told me to call back if I did'nt hear from them in a month. I got an offer in less than a week so maybe just depends how many people they're interviewing and how busy they are.
  3. Hello all, I received a job offer at LAC+USC, of an RN1 A ITEM with SHIFT OF NEED position. I am curious to know what this all means? I was told this is a permanent position so does this include benefits, paid holidays 401k etc? And if anyone knows what is meant by SHIFT OF NEED, please help me out here in understanding because I am clueless .

@apragma525, the exam results I got 2 days later I believe . After that you receive your results and pass the exam you can call nurse recruitment to schedule any available appointments with them. After that im not sure how long it takes for them to clear you and get back to you. But from what I've heard it can take up to a couple months.

@apragma525, I applied the first week of September and got an email to take the exam around mid December . so for me it took roughly 3 months for them to email me to take the exam. The exam that I took consists of personality questions and some deductive reasoning questions, in my opinion theres no way in studying for this exam.

@nalie2, so say for instance if I work in an outpatient unit I can transfer to a different clinic or to an inpatient position? My plan is to stick with LA County and advance in my education and hopefully work as an NP. thank you for responding to my questions , honestly my overall goal is to just work somewhere were I can learn more and be able to grow from there. So far I've heard green things about County and I cannot wait to see for myself. How are your hours? Are the clinics also 12hr shifts?3 days per week?

@nalie2, got it thank you! I don't know why I thought it would be at least a little above 40 . In your honest opinion would you say it is worth it in the long term to keep working for county for both clinic and hospital ?

@nalie2, I see online it says it ranges from 82,000-124,000 annually, I tried to break it down making it about $47 hourly for a new grad, would this be accurate ? and thank you for responding . Do you know if the salary goes up if you stay with the county and acquire more experience ?

@lilscholar, thank you just emailed them! And congratulations on your new job! Do you know anything about their clinics as far as pay being the same for inpatient and outpatient clinics ?or any real differences ?schedule or benefits?

@lilscholar, they are asking for resume, recommendation letters and certificates. Are we allowed to still send the cover letter even if it was not asked for? As for the certificates this includes BLS,ACLS etc?
  12. Hi guys, So for all experienced nurses wether working in a hospital or outpatient clinic I would appreciate your advice and insight. I am a new grad RN, hoping to become a future Family Nurse Practitioner. My question is, is it necessary to have hospital experience to become an FNP specifically working in an outpatient clinic setting? What are the chances of landing a job as an FNP if I decide to not do hospital setting and instead as a new grad start off in an outpatient clinic? If im honest with myself, during my clinical rotations and preceptorship I never really saw myself or enjoyed the hospital setting, but I did truly love the rotations I did at the community clinic working with the FNP's. My ultimate dream is to be an FNP in a low income community ,so again my question, am I really kicking myself in the behind if I do not start off in the hospital as a new grad?

100 is a passing score it puts you in Band 1, meaning youre at the top of the list I guess?, so far one of my other nursing friends told me that she contacted the nursing recruiter and got an interview. So that is my next step, try doing that as well.

@nalie2, thank you for your response, it has been 9 days since I got my results on email. I am now thinking of waiting this last week and if I do not hear anything from them I will absolutely call. I wonder if they are backed up or not hiring due to Covid.
