Got you. What resources you recommend for studying? Example: Uworld vs Kaplan. I know we all learn differently

    COVID-19: NCLEX Changed!!

Yeah they’ve removed the research questions. Yes that’s a huge decrease. Do you think the exam will be more difficult than it already was?

    COVID-19: NCLEX Changed!!

Have you guys seen the new update for the NCLEX exam? What are your thoughts? I see it a lot harder to prove that you’re competent. I don’t want to be a downer but doesn’t that mean with less questions you’ll need a greater percentage of correct questions to satisfy the competency level? But again 4 hrs for a max of 130 questions is quite a lot of time to prove competency. Also I also feel like they changed the standards. They just won’t straight out say that cause people gonna be going cray cray. We bout to see everybody with a license soon. But I pray it’s for the best.

    Kaplan

Hey guys, does anyone of you know how to use the Kaplan’s decision tree? It does work with every question for me. Am I doing it wrong?

Ran out of time on the NCLEX-RN

The resources I used to study got all those topics that came so it was somewhat easy for me to recall what came. When I was getting soo many SATA’s I was scoring it on my board. Thank you though.

Ran out of time on the NCLEX-RN

So I had 38 SATA 2 drop and drag (SBAR & Sputum Culture) 7 Exhibit (which medication nurse should question) 3 EKG (A-fib and Asytole) 3 Dosage Follow ups (>20) See Firsts (>30) Prioritization (>60) Delegation Psych (schizophrenia etc.) Know your PRECAUTIONS and appropriate PPE Diets Vaccines (pneumococcal, influenza (which pt. Shouldn’t receive it). Positions (after procedures) Know your basics (techniques for Lung sounds etc.) Peak flow meter MDI Trach care Ventilators Labs (knowing your labs is a MUST!!!) Tourniquet (IV access) Kids (poisoning/overdosing) Maternity (Mag Sulfate) Know yours meds Some of the diseases that came for me was: Cystic fibrosis, crohns, wilm’s tumor, guillain barre, TB, Pneumonia, HIV/AIDS, Renal Failure, NMS, Autonomic Dysreflexia, Heart Failure, RA, colostomy, Diabetes (DKA & HHNK, Glargine, Insulin administration, picking the correct technique from a photo), Stroke, Asthma etc Guys trust me on this, if you really study quick facts along with the 35 page packet file the test will be so much easier than you’d expect. You’d be able to rule out answer choices. Now the questions wouldn’t be so basic, you’d have to figure out what it’s asking esp in the answer choices e.g. signs & symptoms will lead you to the topic. When I started the test (RN) I was taking my time as I was reasoning the choices. The computer gave me 3 breaks and I took all 3. After my last break is when I realized that I wasn’t going to complete the entire test. I was going to run out of time. So I was rushing to complete as much as I can before it ended(well that was a bad idea. I should have taken my time since they’re only gonna grade my last 60 questions ). Lesson learned, even if I don’t pass I know I will on my next try!!! Because I felt prepared and I know I was close. Time expired at 226. I hope this at least help some of you prepare.

    Sat my NCLEX-RN today

I have two friends that starting off up there and is still working there. They both want me to come there. Their explanation of the place I mean it’s not like NY NY but it’s doable. Plus you can get to go back and forth. Thinking of the long term effect it’s worth it. Rent wise it’s like $500-700 depending on where you choose to leave and if you have a roommate.

    Sat my NCLEX-RN today

Thank you! I am trying to remain positive and not have fear. Yes that is soo true! I really didn’t expect that finding a job will be soo draining. Mainly LTC being available but working there as a new grad doesn’t give you any hospital experience when you try to transfer. I have a job offer at a hospital upstate NY. I really don’t want to go up there because I’d have to pay rent when I live freely at home, plus they start you off very low $25-26/hr. But again the cost of living up there is low as well as tax so I guess it balances off. If I don’t get anything then I’d take it, work for a year and apply in the city.
