I'm curious if anyone works in a facility that has an RN initiated enteral nutrition protocol that helps to get patients fed sooner on in their admission? Something like a flow-chart or maybe a checklist to approach the intensivists with to say the patient meets all criteria to start feeding?
I know there have been a few critical care nurse articles on this topic (and bundles), as well as the ASPEN guidelines that were release in 2016. Our unit is attempting to put something together but I wanted to see if anyone already had something that works relatively well and would be willing to share their protocol ideas. Thanks in advance.
