Goodwin College Spring 2018 ASN Program

Good decision on your part. I am definitely going to Capitol CC...yes it might take couple of semesters longer but at least I know I am dealing with the system that upfront and there are no hidden traps. I am still shocked that Goodwin do not mention this upfront, are you there as an educational institution for us, the students, or just to make money?? Well, just so you know, Northwestern CC has an RN program which starts in January (unlike other CC where they start in September) and they also go through the summer, so you are can graduate an entire year earlier. TEAS is another story.. I do in the 80's in science and math, but English is killing me, I am in the low 60's...oh well, I am all set now, I hope other future nursing students will see this post before they apply.

Goodwin College Spring 2018 ASN Program

Thanks for your input, I appreciated. I am basing my estimates on "their" GPA and the 4 classes I will be taking, which is 4 points, and 3 points if I get a 3.5 GPA in those classes (7 total), which I think it is a fair guestimate as one never knows what can happen (I would rather assume low v. high). TEAS I am using worst case scenario of maybe in the mid 70's which will give me 4 points I think, which is a total of 11 even if I score mid 80's I would get a minimal bump of a point or two... Being realistic and protecting my interests, I think I have no chance of getting in, and that is because I have not taken a lot of courses at Goodwin to bump up my points, which is unfortunate. I also hate the fact that they are not transparent at all. I had to come to forums such as this one to be able to get answers, they never answer your questions directly. They also never told me that the clinicals are a lottery based system, I know one can swap with another student but that is a risk which I cannot afford with two kids at school, or home during summer time. I am not willing to get $10k in debt without even being in the program. Again,@rnhopeful82 thank you very much for doing Goodwin's job of honestly informing prospective students, Goodwin should pay you, :)... I really see no reason to go to Goodwin now, after seeing how secretive they are and all $$$ I have to pay, while Capital, Naugatuck CC are almost free and no gimmicks. I am so turned off from Goodwin now, I feel like I want to campaign and inform everyone. I do realize, Goodwin might be great for some, but not being transparent it just hit a nerve with me. Even my advisor did not give me an answer when I asked her about the point system. Thanks again, Anna

Goodwin College Spring 2018 ASN Program

Hi everyone...this it seems like an older thread, but I hope someone will see it and have an answer/suggestion. I am applying to the nursing program at Goodwin for May 2019, however, I just found out that there is a ppoint based system (I knew about the points, but not the cut-off, since Goodwin is super secretive with such info). I am taking just 4 classes at Goodwin so I can establish a GPA with them (transferring al the pre-req. from Tunxis, with a GPA 3.5), but between the GPA, classes(4 CLASSES = 4 POINTS) and TEAS, there is not a chance I can have more than 10-12 points, which makes it impossible for me to be accepted into the program, based on the posts here and what the cut-off points have been in the past. I know the points change every year since not all students applying have the same amount of points, thus the cut-off point system can change(up or down), but I doubt it will be 10-12. If this is true, I might as well wait a semester and go to Capital CC and graduate with no or very minimal debt. Any thoughts, suggestions....? Thanks, Anna
