I had a 3.9 prerequisite GPA and a 3.9 overall GPA. My TEAS was a 92% and I have a CNA license, along with 200 hours of work in a skilled nursing facility. No bilingual or CSUEB native points. I was honestly expecting to get in based off of previous years' stats, but it must've been very competitive this year!
Struggleforfuture— you have a very high chance of getting in with the 4.0. I doubt there will be a handful of students with 4.0 gpa. Don’t overthink. I was a current Fresno state student until I took 2 semesters off. Now I am not a student. I have friends and families that have gotten into both fall and spring semesters and fall is definitely more competitive but with a 4.0 gpa, your chance of getting in is extremely high. So dont worry too much. 🙂
Struggleforfuture- I don’t know if the upper GEs are the same for all CSUs. I have only been to Fresno state since it’s local for me. I never bothered to look at other CSUs. But I’m sure you can google it online and find the requirements.
Your post give me some hope since I Have 4.0 in prerequisites too. I didn’t apply any community colleges either. I also don’t want to go private universities because CSUs have better education. I look the graduation picture in Fresno website, has about 50 people graduated. I believe the retention rate is very good in Fresno state, Because many people only look RN pass rate. Someone said the teachers are very helpful. Maybe I really want to go there so I am a little nervous.
English is also not my first language. I honestly did not like my teas score, but didn’t bother to retake it either. I didn’t think English was going to be so in-depth. I didn’t study for any other sections other than science because I haven’t taken my science classes at the time and figure the other three would be common sense. I crammed my studying into 3 days and took it. The other three sections I did quite well, but the English was bad! It brought down my overall score, but I still met the bare minimum so I applied anyways. I wished I had retook it and spent some time on it. But since I have a 4.0, I hope I can still get in. I have known people in the past that got in with bare-minimum teas score or not even passing scores but with 4.0 gpa. But again, supposedly their team of reviewers change their requirements here and there so we’ll see what happens. But Fresno state has always been gpa based except during the spring semester when it’s only open to Fresno state students. I heard gpa selected for spring goes as low as 3.5.
I am planning to study all my life, but I am in rush now because I am trying to finish the program first, then have one cute baby. I want to finish the nursing program in time. English is not my first language; I need to spend more time to get them. What we all can do is just waiting now, no choice😐.
I'm sorry to hear about the losses you have suffered. I am happy to hear you're continuing to persevere through the struggles though! There is a website you can go to that lists schools who offer the nursing programs. https://rn.ca.gov/education/programs.shtml
I worry about my Teas score to low, I thought I may retake in February but unfortunately my grandpa fall down went to hospital (he took care of me when I was young we had deep emotional bound). It was a terrible year! I had buy ticket back to my hometown because no body take care of him since my father passed away last year. I applied 8 CSUs but I didn’t get 80 on teas 3 of them gone, then I went to my hometown my grandpa passed away in the same day I feel so bad didn’t want to continue this year. After one month, I came back California and try to continue my application but only Fresno state and Bakersfield list in my nursingcas, I don’t know where I can apply more in case I don’t get accepted. I am in LA, I was want to go Long Beach but I don’t want to retake Teas and waiting another year for something not sure. Fresno state become my first choice now, hopefully see you guys there. I will be happy and move to there if I get accepted.
