    C-EFM with no L&D experience

Hi everyone. I’m a newer nurse with 6 months of experience in acute care. I’m trying to leave my current facility; it’s a sinking ship and it’s just getting worse and worse. I know it looks bad leaving after 6 months so I really want my next job to work out and be long term. The plan was to do 1 year med surg then go into labor and delivery but I think it’s better if I leave now. I’ve applied at a few places with no luck. I saw another post that suggested getting a fetal monitoring certification. The requirements are just an RN license so my question is, is this a good place to start? If so, what’s the best way to study for the EMF exam? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

    Is this hurting my resume?

Hi everyone! I was hoping someone could give me some insight. I'm a fairly new grad with 6 months of experience and it's time for me to leave my current job for reasons I don't want to get into right now. I took this job in a med/surg setting as I build my foundation as a new nurse but I'm truly interested in OB. I've been applying like crazy with no calls. I took a good look at my resume and I found some areas that I need to make stronger but there's one thing I'm not sure about what to do. I worked as a CNA at a LTC facility briefly while I was in school. They stopped working with my school schedule so I left and went back to retail for the flexibility. On my resume, I have professional experience which includes the 6 months I was a CNA and my current job which is also only 6 months. Those are the only 2 medical related careers that I have but looking at it, I'm thinking it's making me look like a job hopper. Should I leave my CNA experience off altogether or should I add more of my experience in retail or should I only leave my current job and put my clinical experiences from school? Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Hi everyone! I'm in school for my BSN and I am doing an assignment to get a better understanding of informatics nursing. For this assignment, I have to interview someone with the title "nursing clinical information manager", "manager of clinical education", "chief information officer", "quality assurance or performance improvement", "nurse informaticist", "telenursing specialist", "nurse abstractor", "case manager", or "compliance nurse". It's only a few questions that shouldn't take up more than 20 minutes of your time and I would greatly appreciate it. Please let me know if you would be willing to help. Thanks!
  4. Hi, I recently got offered a school nurse position but this was a few weeks ago. Nothing has happened since. I followed up with HR and she said a decision hasn't been made yet. But this was last week. Is this a normal process? Is it because it has to get approval by the board? I know that the board has not met since I talked to HR. Thanks!
