  1. Medical Alerts Question

Does anyone have a special sign or magnet that they use outside of the classroom door to let staff know that there is a student with a medical alert inside that classroom?
  2. Uniforms

I am keeper of our Uniforms. I keep a select few options in each size since i'm K-8. I get my uniforms from the PTA, they do a uniform swap once a month so if I run low on whatever they will make sure to get a couple for me. If I get a parent drop...

  5. Medical Alerts Question

Our school uses Focus and it will report some of the information needed but not if there is an emergency med on campus. I am in a K-8 school so it gets difficult when they start switching classes.
  6. Medical Alerts Question

I am just trying to find the best way to approach this and make sure that I am covered in the long run. The big issue is that subs do not have access to our computer system if they are subbing.
  7. Medical Alerts Question

We had medical caduceus with no other information at one time, and now my principal wants to go back to them. It is my first year here at this school. At my previous school, we would let those teachers who needed to know via the Medical Alert button...

  11. To those with stock Epi:

I was not the one who started it at my school. We have a food allergy liason (one of my parents) who is behind us having stock epipens and auvi-q's. This is my first year at this school. I will admit it is nice to be able to send an epipen on a fi...
  12. What are your hours?

My official hours are 7:45 am- 3:45 pm. But I usually come in between 6:30 am - 7:00 am to make copies, catch up on emails, etc. Kids hours are 7:50-2:40 for middle school and 8:20-3:10 for elementary. I'm in a K-8 school.
  13. Curiosity

Roughly 880 kids is K-8, including meds I see roughly 15-20 kids a day. For the most part my teachers do an amazing job at screening which things can be handled in class (papercuts, hangnails, new badage, etc.).
  14. Best treatment for...

My district uses Focus... not a super big fan of it, but we switched to it 2 years ago from terms which was alot codes to remember.
  17. Student Body Odor

I would bring it up to guidance or explain to the teacher that you have no relationship with the student and that if the teacher feels comfortable enough that they can have that discussion with her.
  18. Type 1 diabetics, help!

Always follows physicians orders!!!! Our students have diabetic management plans filled out from the endocrinologist that we use. Some of my parents are able to change doses within a certain range and the endo will put that down on the form as well....
  19. Let me give you a mint for asthma

I wouldn't let that get you done. In the future I would be sure to document every visit in the health room so that it does not happen again.
  20. School Health Aide

I am trying to get enough posts in to respond back to your pm.
  21. Switch from hospital nursing to school nursing

I joke that my office is a "mini ER" I can go from a paper cut, to a student with a broken bone and then meds waiting all in the matter of minutes.
  22. C'Mon Now!

    SERIOUSLY????
  23. It's a never ending battle for me it seems like. Just when I feel like I am all caught up, BAM another stack of 100+ students shows up on my desk.
  24. La la la la... I can't hear you

I'm in a k-8 school and most of my middle school parents do the same thing!!! Very Frustrating, all I can do is keep educating them.
  25. Nail Manicures

I am in school health... If I am touching a student I have gloves on since it usually involves blood or bodily fluids. So if my nails do get a little longer its not a super big issue.
