I am a RN in California. Currently on a career break and not working. But I was employed prior to this break and have professional Liability Insurance during my employment through NSO.
Do I need to renew my policy if I am not working now to protect myself?
Or should I let the policy lapse and renew it when I go back to work again?
TIA!

I would keep it. What if a past patient you took care of long ago sues?
You need to keep coverage in case!

SBE is right. I kept mine up for four years after I quit work, just in case I wanted to go back to nursing someday. I finally let it lapse when I put my license in Retired status. I felt better knowing I was protected should any problem arise from the years I practiced nursing.
