You can take your home to the next level with Google Home. Experience true connection as many answers are just a few spoken words away. Home can even help you plan your day by giving you updates on your schedule, commute traffic, and weather. This even functions well in households with multiple users as Home identifies one user from another based on their voice.  Music fans will find the product particularly useful as it allows for music to be played with a voice command.

Google Home strives to be your in-home personal assistant. Using Google’s advanced search technology, by simply saying, “Ok Google”, many of your questions can be answered. Want to know when Brad Pitt was born? Curious how long squirrels live? Wondering how you say “apple pie” in Portuguese? Home has all these answers and countless more. Of course, one of the main elements of Home is its high excursion speaker that provides a clear high and rich base. This functions well for listening to music, something Home can do with a simple voice command. With a number of music partners, Home can play music from YouTube, Spotify, Pandora, iHeart Radio and many more apps. But Home is also a great listener, with the ability to recognize your voice and differentiate it from your family members. This feature is particularly valuable when making phone calls using the device. Tell Home to “call mom” and the person who answers will actually be your mom, not your significant other's mom. Home’s voice recognition also allows you to receive customized personal information. Weather, traffic, and your calendar can all be reported to you by Google Home. Those with a “smart home” will find Google Home particularly attractive for its ability to be a leader among smart devices. Home allows for voice control for products like Nest and Philips Hue to create a smarter, more efficient home experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

If Home is always listening to conversations, how can I know my security is protected? According to Google’s page on security and privacy, Home only listens for a few seconds at a time. If the phrase “Ok Google” is not heard, the small snippet that was recorded is deleted from the device and not shared. Whenever the phrase is used to initiate a command, Google sends the recording beginning with “Ok Google” to their servers to process your request.
Google Home seems to be compatible with a lot of music apps. With what other apps is the device compatible? Home is compatible with many smarthome applications such as Nest Thermostats and Philips Hue. It also functions as a control for video streaming applications such as YouTube or Netflix. While limited, Home is also compatible with Mad Libs games. Read the full list of compatible apps here.
What languages does Google Home support? When Home was originally released it only supported English. Since then the device has grown to support French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, and Japanese. By the end of the year, Google plans to also support Italian, Spanish, and Korean.
