Productivity. Does corporate have a clue?

Keeping track of time is becoming a real pain in the rear. Our corporate considers the only productive time as the time we chart in and out on our visit notes. Phone calls from docs and families or between other disciplines, and paperwork we do at home do not count as productivity. So when I'm working on that recertification on a sunny Saturday, it doesn't count for squat. The phone calls from anxious families do not count either.

It is a very very bad way of reflecting what we do. It also encourages falsifying time records to meet corporate's demands. Do you also get this bull crap thrown at you? Our PCC is very understanding and is trying to stand up for us but she's just one person against the corporate giant.

How common is this issue?

My last job was like that! Big corporation and only interested in the Benjamin. I now work for a smaller company (less than 20 employees) and it is MUCH better. The pay isn't quite what it was, but patient care is the number one concern. Also, the owners were all once in the field (RN, LCSC) so they realize and appreciate the fact that there is a lot of "off the time sheet" work being done for our pts and families.

our time starts when we get to the office, or to our first patient. we are on the "clock" figurtavely, because we don't punch a clock... from the office / or last patient to home, we don't get our hourly wage, but we do get mileage...
