First of all, I am a resident of california and currently attending school in a community college. I got accepted in the LVN program for next year (they do it by lottery). My husband and I are really struggling financially and my financial aid is not enough. I am also working part time to help pay our expenses. Next year I can't work if i'll go for the LVN program for it's a full time class. My School doesn't have a stafford or government loans when I talk to fin aid the other day. I tried looking online and passing my essay hoping i can get a scholarship but no luck. My husband and my income combined is way low that I'm having a hard time getting a private loan. Our parents has their own problems too that I don't want to bother them on co-signing. I am really desperate and my husband is working night shift but still I'm not gonna make it with all the uniforms, books and transportaion expenses. I am really desperate and hopefully I am not alone with this situation.

Look for places that will help low income with school assistance. There are way more than just one scholarship available . Expand your research. May be you could work full time until school started and partime while in session. I worked full time and single parent while i went to school.ITs only for a little while

I would be suspicious of a school that doesn't get gov. backed financial aid. Make sure they are accredited.
Hi, thank you for ur reply. The name of the school is Cerro Coso Community College. I ask them twice already because at first I thought i was asking the wrong person in the phone so I went to see a financial aid officer. I want to go to school next year for the LVN, and I've been applying to more than 30 scholarship online. The class would start 3rd week of january and wells fargo and chase ask me to fax our ITR which is really low. I need to commute to the community school for 30 minutes and that alone would be expesive going back and forth.
Have you checked into your local WIA program? It is through the unemployment office. Everyone (and I mean every single person) in my LPN class gets assistance through them for shoes, uniforms, stethoscopes, they will pay for a NCLEX review calss in the last semester, etc. People that need further assistance d/t low income get more money than the rest of us. Check into that. It may not give you much, but every little bit helps. I think my award totals about $1500 for semesters.

I think that there was a few of my girl friends that got a loan through astrive student loans. You may also ask around and see if any potential employers offer tuition assistance for a short commitment once you are licensed. Good luck with this, and Dont give up! ~Ivanna
Thanks Ivana, I'm still looking for scholarship online. Even if I can't get a loan I might try to work part time or more hours. I really want to be an LVN. Hope you have a nice weekend!
