Question....
I know you can buy anatomy coloring books....in fact I saw a decent looking one at sams club last time I was there....but I was wondering if anyone had found anywhere online that you can print? I've found basic ones...but looking for something a little more indepth that covers everything I need for my exams......thought I'd look into that before I spent more money
I am putting together a study notebook (labeling charts in sheet protectors so I can do them with a dry erase marker over and over) and stuff like that for the skeletal and muscular systems (and whatever else I feel like I need to include to make the grade I need ) and thought that might be something that helps me but I am always looking for a free option before I spend more money
if not....can you suggest a good book to order?

Good idea with the sheet protectors! I'm taking it next semester and found some really good organization tips from a lady on YouTube. I believe it's Robins Nursing Journey, or something like that. You should definitely check it out! You could do a search on here for YouTube and the post asks who's your favorite YouTube person, or something along those lines:)

Have you tried looking at google? Or seeing if someone will copy theirs for you? I have the Grey's Anatomy coloring book(the short version, but helps for some minor things), and it's pretty nice. I would prefer more depth, as we go into more depth, but it's better than nothing! I also found a lot of things online. :) Like I printed out 2 life sized skeletons to practice on, and just added the marks I needed.

I just googled, "Detailed anatomy coloring sheets" and got some great results. Unfortunately they weren't on one comprehensive site. Have you already used coloring sheets? For me personally I found them to be a waste of time, it was not how I learned at all!
Thanks guys.... I was just googling....I looked quickly and didn't find what I was looking for but didn't look hard. I ended up going to barnes and noble today....I picked up netter's anatomy coloring book. I had a 20% coupon and my 10% membership discount it ended up being $16 so not too bad
I am hoping it will help me mostly with being able to locate and label the parts of the skull etc. Flash cards are not working for me on that and our lab exam is pretty in depth
Not sure it will be THAT helpful but atleast this book I got has a lot of description and detail too
The thing that helped me most is I made a friend in my A&P I course and we'd do these "speed rounds" in the lab. We'd take one of the bone models and point to something new every 5 seconds and if we missed it, we'd just go back to it more often! With this type of really quick recall exercise we got it down!
We had to know every bone and just about every tubercle, groove, fossa, line, process, etc... and we both were the only two in class to get above 100%! (2pts critical thinking e.c was made available every test for us)
The problem I find with the coloring book and flash cards is you end up learning it backwards (reading a name and being able to locate it) or by a visual association with the colors/specific picture/ etc that you won't have during the actual test.
Sorry if this was irrelevant, I just wish I'd had this info sooner so I like to share it :)

Yess. That is what I do in lab as well. I'm the only one in my lab section with an A. Personally, I think that's the best way to learn the bones, etc. I agree with the coloring book thing. It'll help you while you have it, but you won't have it on the test so then what? To me, they are a waste of time as well. Studying with the models you will be tested over is the best way to be 100% sure that you know what/where everything is. To the OP, everybody learns differently so the coloring sheets may be exactly what you need. Just try it out & see how it works for you.
ohh no.....I really appreciate the input.....all the fossa, lines, etc are what I am having a little harder time remembering....I think I have most of the bones down....soo I am just trying a little bit of everything to see which methods have the most impact at this point. THis is really the first class I've taken that requires a ton of memorization so I am still trying to figure out what works for me. I always love hearing what works best for other people.
for the bones anatomy drill has worked the best for me.....It's included in the online platform we use for our lab (wileyplus) but I googled it earlier to see if it came up separately and it does
Anatomy Drill and Practice
it helped me a lot (and I haven't looked at all these links to see if they include everything the version that is in our lab platform uses. It's a little different than what pops up here). But like you said....I can pick it off a diagram but then you get the skull model and it's completely different when you don't have the clear colors or separation....Thanks for the input!
That anatomy drill seems like a great resource! I'm going to stick a pin in that for future posters!
