President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

Whoever was the spokesperson not up-to-date with # public open charging stations  AND authors didn't FACT CHECK -- missing in today's journalism and especially facebook/X/online posters.

🙂

I know we should by leary of the Washington Post, but what fact specifically are you disputing?

I drove through the Endless Mountains last fall and in the middle of nowhere (the spot where you lose your internet) we pulled up to gas up and there was a line of Tesla chargers with no one there.  I read today that people are stealing the power cord from the chargers:(  Didn't see that one coming!

Probably for the copper.  That's been a big industry the past few years.  At $4 to $5 a pound, to me seems like a lot of stealing to make it worthwhile, but I guess not for some.

So, you're under the impression I was saying there are only 7 EV chargers in the U.S.?

No.  I think what you initially said was that it was a woke failure or similar.  What were you intending to say?

People have been stealing copper forever. It always seemed.to.me.to be more work to steal copper than to work.  When we put copper pipes in my house our contractors never left any overnight.  They locked it up.  Now people steal  catalytic converters 😞

Fox News today devoted a huge block of time to this story about Biden. I don't think he was freezing or going numb, but that he was enjoying the applause he was receiving.  As medical professionals we understand that someone doesn't unfreeze from a touch like he did.

That said, it's not a good look for him and he really seems feeble.  He needs to retire.  Anyway, I'm voting for Kamala anyway, so he still gets my vote.

"BTW, other sources earlier reported that only 7 chargers have been installed. " is what you quoted previously in a post and where the "midcommunication" started".  It reads as if you are supporting the 7 number what WAPO reported.

I noticed that this video was posted by the Hindustan Times for whatever that's worth.  This doesn't look like a freeze to me.  Since we have no audio, we don't know what is really going on.  Looks to me like Obama wants to get out of there with Joe and have a beer while Joe could be standing for applause?  There's a couple of explanations.  Mine is that an 82 year old man shouldn't be traveling so much.  Remember, 4 years ago, he had to campaign at home?  But this isn't like what happened to McConnell.  THAT's a freeze.

That was just one of the first videos I saw, but it's all over the media at this point that he froze, to the point that the White House had to make a statement (with a deflection):

Quote

White House senior deputy press secretary Andrew Bates called out the way Biden's critics were interpreting the moment.

He said, "By pretending the President taking in an applauding crowd for a few seconds is somehow wrong, all they're really admitting is - once again - is they can't take on the leadership that's fueling the strongest economic growth in the world & bringing violent crime to a 50 year low."

I watched that fundraiser, great entertainment various acts prior to Kimmel hosting conversation between Biden and Obama -- 70% was Biden speaking fluidly, scant signs stutter. Biden did appear slightly tired while walking offstage with his friend Obama, stopping to wave to audience---like buddies going out for a drink; I would be too after chris crossing Atlantic 2x in 1 week for D Day and G7summit.

Maybe it's my bias, but I think they made the statement because of the spin, not because there was some Biden behavior that required explaining. I didn't see a freeze.  I saw an old man, who was tired, taking in some deserved approval.

I agree.

Biden is older than me and he keeps a pretty disciplined and active schedule.  It helps that he flies in a mobile White House with an actual bed and every thing.  Still.  He's old.  He has got to be weary after that.

I am supporting the number the WAPO, and Free Beacon, and many others reported.  Per their reporting, as of then 7 chargers had been installed by way of the Infrastructure bill.  Not sure what is so confusing?  Here it is again:

It wasnt a "miscommunication" as much as it was that member making uninfomed comments.  That member obviously didn't read my first post and article, and apparently didn't read the second article I included in my direct reply.
