President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

He sure "stutters" more than he used to, doesn't he?

You need to stop thinking about how Democrats vs Republicans see him.

How do you think he looks to Putin and our other enemies?

Weak, feeble, unaware, confused. Perfect to take advantage of. Same with China Korea etc. After the glorious dumpsterfire of Afghanistan.

Trump said ""You take a shower, the water doesn't come out," Trump said. "You want to wash your hands, the water doesn't come out. So what do you do? You just stand there longer or you take a shower longer? Because my hair—I don't know about you, but it has to be perfect. Perfect."

Good answer?

Not sure where he was taking a shower but whenever I traveled water always came out.

Shower head rules came out in 1992 when George Bush was President.  And apparently most commercial shower heads are in compliance with 2013 rules anyway, so this is just more of a symbolic act.

I can't vouch for the source but this article states:

Quote

.Officials estimated that the Obama-era rule saved households about $38 a year, and the Energy Department expects similar savings by reverting to the 2013 standard.

Not much per household, but multiply that by the number of households and it's nothing to sneeze at.  There were drought conditions when Obama rules came out.

Things went south in the world's view of Biden after Afghanistan for sure.

But I would venture to say Europe was looking forward to US without Trump.

"The new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll found that Biden's approval rating has sunk to 41 percent, a historic low for the president in polls conducted by the groups. Fifty-five percent of adults in the U.S. disapprove of the job Biden is doing as president."

And, only 29% of independents approve.   Trump received 41% of the independents' votes.

With ongoing inflation, although oil stocks have fallen which might mean lower gas prices, and gloom over the global economy and a rough covid Winter coming up, campaigns by Republicans and Fox News to spin things, and a incoherent Democratic Party,  I don't expect Biden numbers to improve anytime soon.

In the meantime while Trump makes money on the road with some falsehoods being spread (he is still saying there was voter fraud and is mysteriously claiming only one death on January 6th, gets booed for saying he got the booster, doesn't have massive sell out crowds, he's still the "800-pound gorilla in the GOP"

“Poll after poll clearly demonstrates that former President Donald Trump is still the 800-pound gorilla in the GOP and would be its 2024 nominee should he run,” said Fabrizio, who confirmed the numbers for POLITICO but did not provide them. “This new data clearly shows that today the voters in these five key states would be happy to return Trump to the White House and send Biden packing.”

I really don't remember a campaign for Presidency so early before.  There are still 3 years to go.

I think these Republicans echo what a lot of us feel.  Major disappoint, belief that the election was legit and not regrets about voting for Biden and getting rid of Trump.

This was back in September, I don't know if inflation or any other concerns have changed their minds.

Not thrilled with Biden, but absolutely not missing Trump

These two focus groups consisted of all Biden voters, but overwhelmingly they still consider themselves Republicans. They haven't yet left the party, even though they're disillusioned by Trump's ongoing presence and the control he still holds.

In contrast to the majority of Republicans responding to polls, none of these voters falsely believes the 2020 election was stolen.

None said they regret their 2020 vote. And while they may be disappointed in Biden, they absolutely rule out voting for Trump if he runs for president again.

Don't you think it was naive of people to have any expectations that a change in administration was going to have much effect?  Trump poisoned the landscape so badly that it can't be decontaminated at this point.  The Republicans that blemish the party are not going away.  We will probably have to wait for them to die off.  The US is not unique in this turn to authoritarianism.  When patriotism is defined as disrupting school meetings, harassing medical workers, making citizen's arrests, storming the WH, etc.,  we have corrupted the meaning of the word "patriotism".

Gee.  I never equated stuttering with stupidity.  It's a really complicated phenomenon and often associated with fatigue or stress.  Only an idiot would judge a person by a propensity for stuttering.  He has done a great job all his life of controlling it.

Someone else called it a stutter.  It's not the same as in the past.  This is cognitive decline. Not stuttering.  And, stutter or not,  he's proved through the years to not be the brightest bulb in Washington.

I won't name-call like you just did, and I'll keep my judgement on people who do to myself. But, I do have to wonder about those who can't see his obvious decline

Yes, even the Europeans have said that they set the Biden Administration expectations way to high.  I had high hopes but low expectations, but living in Florida my hopes were dimmed by Trump winning Florida and our republican status becoming more entrenched.

I will confess I never saw the Afghanistan debacle coming, or inflation.  But am disappointed at the continued rhetoric about the "man in the White House with dementia".

Don't forget that patriotism is a 17 year old showing up to defend his country with assault weapons.
