Prerequisite courses in Canada

Specializes in Nursing Education, ICU (Cardiac surgery).

hi,

i am an internationally educated nurse. i have master's degree in nursing education and about 10 years job experience, mainly in cardiac surgery icu.

i have decided to change my field of study and have a plan to study in canada.

in order to be qualified, i need to complete these prerequisite courses again:

  • human anatomy (with lab) or human physiology
  • algebra or calculus
  • general physics (including lab component)
  • physical chemistry

minimum of 0.5 credit for each prerequisite with minimum grade of 60% is required.

actually, i'm not familiar with educational system in canada and i'd appreciate some help. application deadline of my favorite program is february 1, 2013 and it is offered in toronto. i need to know:

where to take prerequisite classes?do you offer any school or college?

when should i take prerequisite classes?

how long it takes to complete them?is it possible to complete them before february 1, 2013 ?

thank you in advance.

You can take any of those courses at basically any university in Canada. You can take about 5 classes each semester Sept -Jan and Jan - April. However I would take them in span of a year too many courses may affect your gpa. Also UT is a very competitive school so aim very very high. As far as prereqs they'll probably make you take high school equivalent courses before they allow you to take the ones you posted but if you've done those in high school I'm pretty sure those prereqs will be waived.

Anyways goodluck.
