Prepping for 2nd attempt nclex rn

Published

Hi guys..just want to ask your opinion on my study resources.. Planning to take my 2nd attempt on or before april 2014. My first attempt was a year ago and i haven't read anything nursing related stuff since then..2013 was not a very good year for me but i am ready to conquer my 2nd attempt. Anyways will start with my review after new years. I am planning to use the saunders book as my main source alongside the hurst printed lectures that i still got. For Qbanks i have the nclex 3500 and a bunch of nclex qbank apps on my iPhone i also got exam cram and la charity. Will do 100qs a day and will gradually increase the number weekly. And i am planning to sign up michael linares review videos as well but still not sure about it.I have all the time til april so i hope it is enough to pass the exam i even declined a job offer so i could focus. So what do u guys think?! Do u think my resources are enough? Any more tips that u can share? Please do..would really appreciate your help.

My suggestion is the NCSBN NCLEX review-from the makers of the NCLEX....it very comprehensive and they have the questions are very similar to the boards. They have the option of 3, 5, and 8-week courses. I know a few cohorts who used it exclusively and passed the boards.

If you want a good pharm review, I used Davis' Pharm Phlash cards. For question review, I use LaCharity, The Success Series, Lippincott for my iPhone and Saunders NCLEX review flash cards for being in the go-each source all had questions similar to the boards.

Hope this helps!

Hello.. I only have the printed copies. I don't have the pdf files anymore because my laptop was stolen few months ago. And it's not a usual handout because u need to use that during the hurst review because there are blank spaces in the handouts and they will tell you what to write in the blank spaces.

Hi rizmei!

I'm in a very similar position! I graduated in 2012 and failed the NCLEX my first time. 2013 was a crappy year for me and I got really discouraged. But I feel like I'm ready to give it a second shot! I have lippincott's Q&A book (that I have from school) and the NCLEX Mastery app (which I LOVE), and I recently found Michael Linares on youtube and he has really helped me! In addition I've been brushing up on my content by making my own flash cards, which I think is really helping me!

I feel a lot better knowing that I'm not the only one! I hope you pass in April!

Hi!

need help to prepare for the nclex rn exam i will really appreciate any suggestion ,help or advice .i am so worried dont know

from where to start.

Hi guys!

I'm scheduled to take the exam in a couple months and am looking for a support system and possible study partners once or twice a week to go through questions together. Does that sound like something someone might be interested in? Super awesome since I am great at holding other people accountable but it is much harder to hold myself :/

Yea! I haven't gotten my ATT yet, but I know as soon as that comes the nerves will start kicking in again! Mostly right now I wish I could do a CAT style HESI or something to see where I stand or something because I feel like I've made a lot of progress and I want to know what's overkill and what I should spend more time on haha. So foolishly I've been feeling antsy to take the exam haha!

I actually found this site Cram.com that really helped me brush up on my lab values, cranial nerves ect. It's basically a flashcard site, but it has a memorize mode and a little game mode, and you can get it on your smartphone! For example this (Lab Values (Game) Flashcards - Cram.com) is the set of flashcards I made for lab values.

Hope that helps!

Try a review program like hurst or kaplan or you can follow some of the study tips nurses give out in here..but it will still be based on your preference. I wish you the best
