Pre-Nursing at UNLV--GPA questions??

Published

Hi I am a grad of UNLV of 2004, and I am planning on going back in the fall of 08 to finish up my pre req's and apply to the BSN program. The min GPA for pre nursing is 3.0 OR take 9 UNLV credits and establish a new 3.0 GPA. right now i am at a freaking 2.915 or something ridiculously close to a 3.0, now if i still don't have that 3.0 by the time i apply could they take the 3 highest of my pre req's that i already took at UNLV and use those towards my new GPA or do i have to take all new classes? i know it's a stupid question i know but i am trying to get as much information as possible about this program so i know what i need to do as a backup plan once i get there. Thanks.

I don't mean to be pessimistic here (I am usually a huge optimist) but yet I like to be realistic. UNLV has changed their entire admissions policy and are admitting students based only upon their G.P.A. They are slowly implementing this program; however, I have a 3.75 G.P.A. and asked my advisors whether I should switch over to the new catalog and be rated upon my G.P.A. She looked at me and said, "Right now we are only admitting students with 3.8's and above."

I just want to give you an idea of the G.P.A. students have that are applying.
