Hi all!

Anyone out there taking Micro this quarter?? I am and so far its pretty hard! Thought we could start a thread about our micro experiences...I had my first test today and it was soo hard over 80 questions.....ugh...we had to grow some smelly bacteria this week too....My instructor is not very good at lecturing and forgets to actually lecture then she just expects you to know it....how am i supposed to know what hemolysis is if you dont tell me! ANyway, here is a good link for micro...it has some awesome quizzes and online notecards...http://www.mhhe.com/talaro5

We can make this thread for anything to do with Micro! Where is everyone from and where are you taking micro and for what program??

I'm starting an online, 12-week summer Micro class on May 23rd. We go to campus for a three hour lab once a week. I haven't heard anything about the professor.....

I'm just finishing online A & P I with a wonderful professor!! She's funny, a great teacher and I seem to have figured out her test & exam question "style". My average with an exam and a final left in the class is in the high 90's. I'll be taking A & P II with her in the fall.

My school separated the anatomy and physiology RN prereq classes too. There was a combined A & P class that the LVN students took.

Nooo *shaking head*

My school likes to draw out the torture! :chuckle

We did anatomy this spring, and we are doing physiology over the summer. They feel that they are able to go further in-depth... But I think they're just crazy... we're like the only college in the universe that teaches them separately!!

our school offers a class w/ them together and also offers them separate. but there are so many applicants now that its to the point where you have to take them separate for the extra points they give you for taking it by itself(physiology). so basically ther are students that took a&p and now they are taking physiology also. i took anatomy by itself and then physiology because the combined class isnt transferable.

as for microbiology... i like it and i hate it at hte same time. i think its my lecture instructor. he talks a bit about what we need to know and then he ventures off into an example that takes up almost the rest of the class and finally mentioning his point at the very end. loses me most of the time. i just got accepted into the RN program starting this august but i'm in micro right now. finals are coming up and i'm on the verge of not passing =(. i dont know how this happened. i love science classes i usually get A's except for the B i got in summer physiology (got lazy at the end). i'm getting A's in all my classes this semster yet hte one class that matters, i might not pass! grrrrrr!!! but hey either way i'm still in the program so i'm happy. now i'm just worried that not knowing microbiology well will hurt me during the program.

Hi all!

Anyone think that APII and Microbiology can be taken together? Do you think it is doable? I am considering taking them together so that all my clinical studies will be just that and not lecture or lab. Any advice is greatly appreciated :)

Assuming it's a prerequisite for your RN program, will you need to retake Micro if you fail? Will they still accept you if you fail it now? I've been accepted into a program on the condition that I finish my prereqs by the end of summer ... with grades on par with what I have been making ... which means A's. It's a bit of stress!

First off let me wish you luck on your final!! KEep us posted!! Second, no joke, if were one of those ladies you better bet I would have been in the deans office reporting him for sexual harrassment!! That is completely and totally inappropriate...How can you learn anything in a setting like that? Im grateful now that atleast my teacher is nice and willing to help, that is if she remembers!! We just finished our second week of class so I am hoping that I will like it more when we really start getting into things...Lucky for me in my class we dont have to do any research papers or anything soo thats always a plus! Good luck all! keep us posted!!!

Yahoo I passed!!! I was scared to death our final had 200 questions on it. I just got my final grade a B! Suits me fine. It's finally over, thanks for the well wishes. crb

Micro stinks! So far I've messed up both my streak plates in lab :angryfire and my gram stain slide, which I had to do over just to find out after that all the organisms "died" over night...boo...the last two weeks i've left lab with pink and purple fingers...oh and its only the 3rd week...lol.....
