Which BSN programs are you applying to?

hey nikki! well so far i have only applied to Drexel.. and im still waiting to hear what they say. looks like i'll also be applying to villanova, duquense, jefferson, maryland and pitt. problem is- my stupid orifice school i attend right now wont let me take pharm and patho which are pre-reqs for two of those schools, so i gotta call them up on monday and see what i can do about that. then there is jhu.. but i dont know if i feel like throwing away 50 (75?) bucks just to receive a rejection letter.

arghhh.. too much stress for me! :angryfire

Haha..Don't worry Charley..I feel your pain! Yeahhh!! A fellow Villanova applicant! Have you spoke to the Dean or anything up there? Her name is Frances Keen, I love her! She's wonderfully open and blunt! I wanted to apply last year, but she was pretty honest in telling me I would be wasting my time, as my current school pretty much screwed me by making me take certain chem classes to get into A&P, but they wouldn't transfer. Blah...So now, after completing everything but Micro..I get to go back and take general chemistry. (I hate my school!) Anyway, I have her email somewhere around here...She interviews with all applicants personally, and advises all transfers to apply EARLY, like as soon as apps are ready early. She really is great. Are you at a Community College now?? Also, just an FYI..JHU's NCLEX passing rate is FALLING. Shocking, I know, being that it's the #1 medical system in the country (they rub that in ALL the time, it's soooooo annoying)..but..Eh. Me personally, after having worked at the hospital for 3 years, have no desire to attend!

Just take some deep breaths..hehe, eeeeeeeeeverything will be ooooooook. :)

Also, just an FYI..JHU's NCLEX passing rate is FALLING. Shocking, I know, being that it's the #1 medical system in the country (they rub that in ALL the time, it's soooooo annoying)..but..Eh. Me personally, after having worked at the hospital for 3 years, have no desire to attend!

I am really hoping to try and apply and get into the University of Minnesota's BSN program, but the competition is feirce, and I don't know if my grades will cut it. Right now I am in at a Community College. I will try to get into their program as well

Otherwise I'll be applying to just about any nursing program that will take me :)

I'm not sure of the exact stats, but I have heard that they have fallen about 5% points, somewhere around 91% now, which no, isn't bad by any means. Two of my friends are in the program, one is actually transferring out to MD's program this fall. My former boss is now teaching for JHU, she keeps me well informed. :)

Hey yall! Well I plan on applying to MUSC in Charleston, SC. They have a good BSN and an MSN. The competition is kinda tough they only let in about 30 or so. So next fall that's where I'll try 2 be. If not I'll apply to wherever else that may catch my interest.

I will be attending Barry University in Miami, Fl. If you dont mind moving far away form where you live, they have an excellent nursing program. They have a 4,3,2(years), and a 12-month accelerated program. You need to apply NOW tho'. Also try University of Miami. IT MUST BE THE EASIEST TO GET INTO. All you need is a 2.75 GPA and all your pre-reqs finished. If not just send them proof that you are currently taking the classes and they'll still accept you. Everyone thinks that it is really hard to get into the program but its not. They accepted 600 Nursins Students for the upcoming fall but i decided to go to Barry instead. I like the smaller setting. I got into penn and Drexel and am going to drexel its cheaper, they have co-op so you end up making money, and believe it or not they got higher board scores than penn. i couldn't be happier with my decision. ive been told that its better to saveyour money for undergrad, nobody cares about that when it comes to nursing, and to stretch your money to a master's at a renowned university.

My girlfriend goes to UVA's nursing school and absolutely loves their program. I also know someone at Nova that likes it there as well but wishes she had more real experience outside of clinical on the floor. But despite the he said she said stuff, you will find people that love a program that somebody else hates. Try if you have time, to talk to either a wide range of students from each program, or even see if you can sit in on a class. Otherwise, just make sure you know what you need/want and have it match. My biggest problem with choosing was the name. It was very difficult to give up "Penn", but once I did I realized I was choosing it for all the wrong reasons. Don't get caught up in the superficiality make sure you are choosing the school because it is right for you, not because of what it does on paper. Not that you would, but that was my problem.
