Where do you want to work?

If you could work at any hospital or clinic in the nation, where would it be? For me, I'd die to either work at Mass Gen, Johns Hopkins, Harborview, or Brigham and Women's. You?

Specializes in LTC.

Certified Diabetes educator working in a public health clinic... Educating those who get the least education but are at the highest risk. As for right out of school? I'd like to hit the ground running and work at the tribal health center in my county because of the rising rates of Type 2 diabetes among Native Americans coupled with their barriers to care. I just want to save feet, kidneys, and eyes... That's my dream.

Specializes in Forensic Psych.

I'd love to work at Texas Children's Hospital or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Hopefully someday soon :)

Mayo Hospital, John Hopkins, UCLA.

My dream job would be to work in OB at Vanderbilt. That's a looooong way off, but eventually I'd love to be there. All the area hospitals around my current area are great so I'll be thrilled to get in any dept. with those hospitals with the hopes of eventually making to OB somewhere within those hospitals. I'm only working on my ASN right now so it will be quite some time before I get where I want. I will work on my BSN within 5 years of an ASN, once my kids are a bit older.

Specializes in Endocrinology, hopefully.

I love that you want to be a CDE! That is my ultimate goal. My daughter is now 5, but she was diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic at 18 months old. What is your link to type 1? Just curious :)

Specializes in Endocrinology, hopefully.

I plan to work with our pediatric endocrinology office for my daughter's endo. Ideally, as I mentioned, I'd like to become a CDE, but as soon as I graduate, I fully intend to work with these kids in any capacity I can!

Specializes in inerested in school nursing, peds, OR.

Texas children's! But I especially want to be a school nurse!

Seattle grace wouldn't be bad either:)

Specializes in PICU, Pediatrics.
I don't know about the mass. hospitals you mentioned, but I know John's Hopkins pays nurses a lot less that other hospitals in the baltimore metro area. My aunt, whose a NICU nurse I believe said that, and I also feel like I've read it here recently.

In that same tune though, I'd be happy to work in any major research hospital just for the sake of seeing some really amazing procedures (after I put in my time in in whatever area I get hired in, I'd really love to be an scrub nurse.) in the OR. One can dream, right?

I've heard the same, but I think that the experiences you'd gain there would be incomparable to just about any other hopsital. For me, that's a good enough reason to take the job. However, this would of course greatly depend on my financial situation at the time of application. Lol

I'm with ya! Scrub nurse would be an amazing job to specialize in. I don't know about pay at Hopkins, but for me my main focus is just nursing. I think we'd all like to be paid more, but I know I'd be extremely honored to even work there! lol

Props to you!! I would seriously be a a cry baby in oncology lol.
