What to wear for volunteer orientation?

Tank top and pajamas.

Just don't come in in shorts and flip flops and no big earings and i think you'll be good

I'd wear "business casual" to the interview. Meaning plain solid color slacks (no jeans), a blouse in a coordinated color without a lot of fussy details, in a more formal fabric than cotton (ie rayon or linen), and a lightweight jacket - doesn't have to match your slacks exactly but be similar in color/texture. Since you are 19, you don't need a shirt with a collar buttoned up to your chin, just don't get too trendy.

The important thing is to have clothes you are comfortable in, that fit so you aren't tugging and shifting, and are clean, pressed, and in good repair. In fact I would walk, sit and stand in my interview clothes to make sure everything is contained where it should be. :) Best wishes!

Hello everyone!
I took everyone's advice and signed up to volunteer at a local hospital. Orientation is this Tuesday and I'm wondering what to wear. I'm volunteering for the hospital/university I hope to go to nursing school at so I want to make a good impression. And what should I wear for the interview?

I agree with another poster. I recommend business casual (no jeans!). I would avoid anything too flashy or trendy and would avoid going over-the-top with makeup and accessories.

Business casual all the way. NO denim, nothing low cut, nothing too tight. You shouldn't have to be concerned with how you're bending or sitting; clothing should be comfortable and breathable.

Footwear simple, NO heels, no sneakers, no flipflops. Wear a simple flat shoe.

Jewelry very low key: keep earrings to studs, a necklace to something small.

You want to look like you could step right in and help out, not BE the one getting helped.

Just did the same thing! I am thrilled to be in the in-patient cardiology! Following the addage to dress for the position you want, I'd pretty much stick to what you will have to wear in the hospital to volunteer. In my case, it's black or khaki pants, closed-toe shoes and a polo shirt they give us with the hospital name on it.

Are you in Omaha? I'm hoping to go to UNMC, too! But I'm in Lincoln. I'm actually applying to volunteer at a hospital too. Like PPs have said, I would wear business casual. And don't forget to wear close toed shoes!
