The Spring '05 Anatomy & Physiology Club: A&P 2

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi all! Just thought I'd go ahead and start this. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas (or whatever you celebrate!) I'm very much enjoying my family time right now.

Spring semester starts January 5th for me, and I'll be taking A&P 2 and College Algebra. Hope to see lots of you posting here like last semester :)

Alright, I gotta brag! I just got done with my muscle test and it's probably the most confident I've ever felt about a test. It's the greatest feeling when you know the answer right away and can immediately fill in the bubble, isn't it?

Specializes in NICU.

AWESOME Doug! That is definitely a GREAT feeling!

Specializes in Emergency Dept, M/S.

Good job, Doug!! I sorta remember that feeling!! LOL

Oh Yeah!!! Love that feeling!

Great Job!!!!

Doug85....Awesome job!!! You're going to do great this semester:)

We had our first lab practical on Monday. It covered all of Cardiovascular 1&2, blood typing, and the arterial/ venous system. I hope I did well....I'll be thinking about this darn test until I get it back next week...I hate waiting for my test results!!! I'm really nervous about the next lab practical we have. It covers Lymphatics and the Respiratory systems...I've heard that lab is hell!! My lab instructor does not give any bonus points either..talk about pressure! Anyway, I hope you're all doing well. Can you believe it's already March!? Spring break can't come soon enough;)

Jen! (SCMomof3) I had no idea you had started this thread!!

Sorry I'm really late. I'm Celeste and I'm taking A&PII again. So far so good. I got a 91 on my first lecture test but a 74 on my lab practical over blood cells. I was NOT happy with that 74.

Yesterday we had a test over the cardiovascular system, I think I did pretty well. We'll find out next Wed!

Well, I have taken 4 quizzes so far and am averaging a 90% in those. My problem is

I got a 61% on my first practical. A D-. I have NEVER scored anything like that before.

I had been suffering through a bout of bronchitis, on a couple of different meds, one of which contained codeine (sp?). Needless to say, I was feeling kind of loopy. During my illness, I studied to the best of my ability. I sat down at the test feeling pretty confident but kind of out of body. Anyhow, I took it, floated on home, and told my husband that I thought I did pretty well. When I got my exam back, I was shocked to say the least. I knew the answer to the questions but couldn't understand why I marked what I did. I can blame it on the illness and medication but I won't. I messed up. Now, I am going to study my behind off and make sure this doesn't happen again. I have two more lab practicals and 4 more quizzes. I believe I can bring this grade back up to a respectable B, possibly and A if I really know my stuff.

Hang in there... stuff happens. This happened last semester in Anatomy to my best friend.

She had to take a mid term while she had pneumonia! She was so ill she could not study the entire week before the test, she also was drugged up and I honestly do not know how she even stayed awake long enough to take the test. She got like a 58 or something on it. She was sooo upset and almost dropped the course because she needed to get a good grade for her GPA.

She hung in there tho! The rest of the course tests she studied her buns off and pulled great grades. She just made her A!!

You can do it too!!

Thanks MryRose. My initial response was shock, then I tried to laugh it off because I understood the reasons, then I cried. The funny thing is when I got home, I had another invitation to join Phi Sigma Theta. I really work hard to maintain good grades. My best friend's husband told me not to be too hard on myself. Brush if off of my shoulder and get back to business. He, who is one of the smartest people I have ever met, told me that it happens to the best of them. Then he told me about the tests he's bombed while studying to get his masters in epidemiology(sp?). So, my ego was bent but not broken. As long as I can keep my quiz grades up and do better on my next practicals, I should be ok.

Spring Break time for me and a MUCH needed one at that. I had lecture test last Wed. over respiratory and blood and got a 101 !!! I was really shocked b/c my teachers tests are SO hard and the resp. sys. was especially hard to me but I was very pleased with my grade. Best wishes to all of you.
